I sleep quite warm so I personally stayed warm enough using this sleeping bag with just long underwear, although I was far from toasty. In addition to personal preferences, note that the “œaverage woman” is generally slightly colder than the “œaverage man” in the same sleeping bag. Size and weight are always a consideration and it seems that Snugpak found a happy medium where they can have a blanket that is useful yet not too big and heavy. Water Resistance / Performance When Wet Water Resistance Snugpak has been around since the 1970s. They not only manufacturer this blanket, they also manufacture tents, clothing, sleeping bags, and a variety of other gear for the military and outdoor enthusiasts.

It would have been nice for me if the blanket was perhaps 79″ to 81″ tall. But it’s really not an issue, and here is why: When it’s cold outside I wrap and curl up in it to conserve body heat (like in the picture further above), and I stay plenty warm and cozy. It’s plenty big enough for me when I curl up…so it’s not really an issue. When its warm outside I just use it as a cover and don’t worry about covering my head. If I get warm I just uncover a little. There is only one issue I have with the Snugpak Jungle Blanket, and it’s actually pretty minor. I’m six foot one inches tall (73 inches), the blanket is 76″ x 64″. Snugpak has engineered the Jungle Blanket using Travelsoft Insulation, designed for exceptional performance using ultra lightweight, high loft fibres that work superbly even after being compressed into a small, compact size for lightweight travelling. Antibacterial, anti-microbial, windproof and water resistant, the Jungle Blanket will become your best friend when the temperature drops. Specification Because the Jungle Bag is only rated down to 45°F, I only recommend it for mild to warm weather. Unless you combine it with another survival blanket, it really is best for tropical conditions.I personally think a polyester blanket such as the Jungle Blanket is a great choice if you are looking for something that has water resistance and can still perform when wet. Comfort With it’s size and weight, the Snugpak Jungle Blanket occupies a sweet spot in between camping blankets and survival blankets. It is definitely not as comfortable as down blankets such as the REI Down Camp Blanket or the Rumpl Down Puffy Blanket, but down loses its insulating properties when wet, so I wouldn’t call those survival blankets, but rather comfy expensive camping blankets. Durability The REI Camp Blanket is also constructed out of 100% polyester including both the outer shell and the insulation. I have had my Jungle Blanket for one season now and I have had zero issues with its construction or durability.

I’ve used many camping blankets over the years from basic rough wool blankets, to down stuffed expensive ones and the Snugpak Jungle Blanket ranks near the top in terms of comfort. This isn’t me, but a picture from the manufacturer. When it’s cold out, this is how I wrap up inside it and stay nice and warm.Not Mummy Shaped In my opinion, a mummy-shaped bag is best for survival situations. Not only does this shape help reduce weight even more, but it also provides superior insulations since less heat can escape. Of course, the Jungle Bag was purposely designed for warmer weather, so this isn`t a major issue. As mentioned above, this survival sleeping bag isn`t the warmest since it`s designed for tropical conditions.
