It’s hard to describe the knurling of the R41, from afar it looks like a wavy groove that spirals down the handle. These grooves aren’t deep, so I will warn you that it can get slippery. The shaving result is dependent on the factors beard growth, the density and length of the beard hair, and how these interact with the blade and safety razor. Some will achieve optimal results with a very sharp blade, while others can profit more from gentler blades. Don’t dismiss the importance of this benefit. The open-comb with deep teeth design feature is what allows you to keep your face nice and lubricated without clogging the razorhead. Without this critical feature, men would still get a close shave from the R41, but it would most likely come with a side of razor burn and/or skin irritation.
