The combination of strength and kindness, although overused in general in manga and the East, is still beautiful each time I see it manifest in a form of art. This inches up to 8 stars mostly because of the evil Michael Jackson ;) But I also love how Gotouge depicts the remnants of human vulnerability in demons, and how Tanjiro's compassion brings the long-faded humanity back to fore at their final moments. Tanjiro fights the demon who killed his mentors students and that scene was so powerful where you see his compassion even for his enemies and then the thing with Ore and bird selection, getting the sword from Haganezuka happens and that scene is so funny and as he goes on his mission first to defeat this demon who eats girls and then finally some other place where he confronts Muzan but also meets another woman whose a demon doctor but is attacked by Two of the twelve Kizuki and its gonna be an interesting fight. The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what's going on, might provide some answers. this was out of their control, as Royal Mail was on strike, however they never reached out to inform me, i found out on my own.

The ending of this volume does a great job hooking you for the next, while giving you enough to feel like you've reached the end of a chapter. While walking through the crowd, Tanjiro smells the demon who murdered his family and turned his sister, the powerful Kibutsuji. There were so many issues with it that I started reading it in February and I dragged it on until I forced myself to finish it in May because I couldn’t stand to see it on my currently reading shelf any longer. He refuses to shut his eyes for fear of death, but he can’t change where his vision points: the solemn face of a demon hunter pitying his demise, his existence as a foul creature. He's immediately given his first assignment and is sent to help a village where girls a mysteriously disappearing.What I loved even more in this volume is Asakusa during the Taisho era, drawn in detail, and how Tanjiro reacts to the ‘big city’. The balance between the heartbreaking and the funny is well maintained, and while Tanjiro is a bit of a special snowflake, he's so wonderfully unaware of it that it doesn't bother me that much (at least for now ;)). Meanwhile, we get another Japanese lesson in Hyottoko masks, courtesy of blade forger Haganezuka – true to his mask, he has something of an eccentric demeanor, namely his random temper tantrum when Tanjiro’s color-changing blade gleams an undesired hue.

The difference here, somehow, is that actually we care this time: in moving beyond doe-eyed damsels-in-distress and cliché revenge stories, Kimetsu no Yaiba found the heart necessary to capture our attention. Kibutsuji sends two of his inner circle after Tanjiro to kill him, and the whole situation puts the demon-doctors in jeopardy! After a fierce battle with a demon inside a maddening house of ever-changing rooms, Tanjiro has a chance to find out about the fighter in the boar-head mask.Now armed with information about the demon who killed his family and turned his sister, he is seeking vengeance and a way to turn her back. He also meets his nemesis and two surprising allies, which actually changes a lot about what we know about demons from volume 1! Tanjiro passes the test to become an official demon slayer, but he doesn’t get the chance to ask any demons about saving his sister before he has to slay them.
