Billingham at some point recalls being terrified by the sheer audacity of the criminals who succeeded to instill a feeling of menace and fear into their victims. Unfortunately, Mark Billingham’s dreams of being a famous actor petered out not long after venturing to the capital, and after a few minor roles, he decided that stand-up comedy was where his future lay. And Billingham had and continues to have great success as a stand-up comedian, working his way through the ranks until eventually becoming the headliner. This switch to comedy also helped him transition from ‘serious’ acting roles, into comedy roles on screen, where he found success in smaller roles, and eventually in hit TV children’s television series Maid Marian and her Merry Men, in which he played Gary the guard who was employed by the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Mark Billingham turned his hand into writing comedy scripts for TV, as well as continued to act and appear in front of the camera in various occasions. Generally, he is a self confessed fan of crime fiction and a very serious collector. Billingham later expressed a desire to film all ten Thorne novels. [4] Likewise, Morrissey confirmed in February 2011 that a second series had gone into production. [5] However, in a newsletter issued to members of his mailing list in December 2012, Billingham stated that Morrissey's role in The Walking Dead had suspended plans for any further series.
