Vanilla is a staple flavor — it mixes well with other ingredients in a smoothie and can even add some sweetness to plain Greek Yogurt or oatmeal. But considering Optimum Nutrition makes several vanilla flavors (French Vanilla Creme and Vanilla Ice Cream), we had to give both a try. We tried them all and decided that Extreme Milk Chocolate is the best flavor. It’s a crowd pleaser, it’s robust, and it tastes great with water. For those more inclined toward vanilla, Vanilla Ice Cream is the best option. It actually tastes a lot like melted ice cream, and again, tastes great with water. What is Gold Standard whey? No one wants a delicious flavor at the start of a sip only to be left with a weird flavor lingering afterward. And considering whey protein is derived from dairy, the aftertaste can be pretty gnarly with some products. We chose powders that delivered a delightful first sip, all the way to the bottoms-up finish. Solubility Yes, it contains artificial flavors and sweeteners. The sweeteners are sucralose (a.k.a. Splenda®) and/or acesulfame potassium (a.k.a. Ace K), depending on the flavor. However, the company has a line of “natural whey” in Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla flavors. Is Gold Standard Whey good for weight loss? These flavors must taste like what it says. If it’s chocolate, it has to taste exactly like chocolate. Same goes for other flavors. This is rare in protein powders because they almost never taste like how it’s labeled. ( But the five below do)

After mixing the flavor with both milk and water, we were happy to find that they both tasted delicious. No matter the base, Extreme Milk Chocolate maintained its decadent flavor, unlike some of the other flavor options. We also didn’t notice any separation, which is a huge plus. It’s the most popular whey protein on the market. Made by Optimum Nutrition, it comes in dozens of flavors and is primarily a blend of three types of whey, with some artificial flavors and sweeteners plus some digestive enzymes, which may help to improve absorption. Does Gold Standard Whey have artificial ingredients? Milk chocolate was my first and I enjoyed the flavor enough to continue buying ON products. It is exactly how you described it and I’d buy it again. Of the flavors I have tried, this is the one that tastes best by itself in plain water.

No other flavor from Optimum Nutrition comes close. This is their crown jewel. And you’d be a making a mistake to try anything else ahead of Mocha Cappuccino. White chocolate is my favorite. Its strength and weakness is the same: it basically tastes like artificial sweetener. Everyone has different taste buds, of course, but the only group of people who may not have an interest, IMHO, in white chocolate would be people who consume whey during their workouts or are otherwise limited to mixing only in water. I enjoy it in water but can understand why someone may want something with a more distinct flavor, such as the chocolate. They taste similar, but Extreme Milk Chocolate, as you can tell by its name, takes chocolate to a whole other level. Because I’ve tried almost all Optimum Nutrition flavors. You can find everything I’ve reviewed here. And of them all, these five I’m about to show you are what stood out the most.

There’s zero artificial-tasting ingredients, which is a must-have with vanilla. Chances are we can all agree that’s the best way to eat vanilla. I don’t care if you’re not a coffee drinker either. You won’t be able to pass this up. When I had it, I always looked forward to downing a shake. It’s just too good. Probably the most talked about flavor of Optimum Nutrition. But don’t get it confused with Double Rich Chocolate. Some say it tastes like the candy Almond Joy. I can see why, but it’s not exactly like it. The coconut is there but it doesn’t stand out as much as the chocolate.

Each tub of Gold Standard 100% whey delivers 24 g of whey protein to support muscle growth. After training, your body uses protein to help repair and rebuild muscle fibres. Each great tasting serving contains 24 g of premium whey protein to support muscle growth and 5.5 g of naturally occurring BCAAs. All with just 1.3 g of fat, 0.7 g of sugars, and with 1.4 g of carbs. GOLD STANDARD 100% WHEYTM is best enjoyed first thing in the morning and/or during the 30 minutes just before or immediately after training. Simply mix one rounded scoop (30 g) with 180-240 ml (6-8 oz) of water in an ON shaker. After a few sips, we thought French Vanilla Crème was fine.We worked our way through a tub of it and while we didn’t hate it, once again, we found it too mild. It does a decent job of flavoring your milk but in water, it doesn’t exactly stand out. Double Rich Chocolate is Optimum Nutrition’s basic chocolate flavor. All companies sell one, but theirs set the bar high. There’s a reason why peanut butter cups are the superior chocolate (at least in our opinion) — It’s hard to go wrong with Chocolate Peanut Butter flavors. Chocolate and peanut butterare just a wonderful pairing and whey protein powder is no exception. Peanut butter alone is delicious, don’t get us wrong, but the spread isn’t exactly sweet. And when a savory whey protein powder doesn’t sound ideal. The main protein ingredient in 100% Gold Standard Whey is whey protein isolate, for better mixability and absorption. With an instantized formula that mixes easily and tastes delicious, try mixing one scoop with your oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, pancake and other recipes.

I personally think it tastes good, but after a few weeks, it takes a turn. That’s why I don’t consider this one of the best Optimum Nutrition flavors. What you can expect from this flavor is a very sweet milk chocolate. Almost two times the sweetness as Double Rich Chocolate. And because of how sweet it is, you don’t even need milk. Chocolate Coconut takes the #5 spot for one reason — it’s not a strong flavor. But it’s tasty, it definitely lives up to its name, and can be mixed with just about anything.I’ve heard many people say it’s nauseating to drink. Although I don’t think that, it’s worth noting because I never heard anyone say this about other flavors. So without further ado, here’s the top 5 best Optimum Nutrition flavors… The 5 Best Optimum Nutrition Flavors #5: Chocolate Coconut We compared this flavor to Double Rich Chocolate, which tastes like a spoonful of plain cocoa — some may like that, though.
