McRae inquired about her distress, Netta claimed she was under “telepathic attack” by several individuals.

Two days after she disappeared from her lodgings, her nude body was discovered on the hills by two crofters. It was later found that Netta had packed a ton (not literally) of luggage, so was seemingly planning to stay for quite a while. Widely mischaracterized in popular understanding, the early 20th century world of the occult has never failed to serve up a plethora of intriguing tales. The Mysterious Death of Netta Fornario is a chilling account mixing fiction with the real events of a still controversial death, suitable for age 14+.

Netta’s apparent distress escalated until the morning of November 17th, when MacRae arose to find Netta in a frenzy of packing her luggage. When Aleister succeeded in disrupting the flow of power to the reproductions' grimoire bodies, Fornario and the others came apart and reverted to cards.

She was described as eccentric, dressing in the style of the arts and crafts movement, with much of her clothing being handmade. A cross had been cut into the turf with a dagger (which was found nearby) and Netta’s body was lying on top of it. On November 19, 1929, the body of Netta Fornario was found south of Loch Staonaig on the Island of Iona, Scotland. Netta was extremely interested in the ancient ruins and Mesolithic sites of Iona and spent long hours exploring the island.

The set is enhanced by a video-backdrop: interiors have flickering candlelight or the full moon beaming through a window, and exterior scenes are played out against a windswept Ionan beach or bleak moorland, complete with scudding sky. Throughout the action, waves crash on the stony beach, rain batters on the window and creepy sounds create the spine-tingling mood of uncertainty that pervades the play. As was the case until very recently boats did not operate a Sunday service and Netta was forced to wait on the island. Born to an Italian father who loved to travel to ancient places like egypt, Netta developed a keen interest in the occult, supernatural and spiritual at a young age. She departed for Iona in either August or September 1929 taking with her a large amount of luggage, which apparently included furniture enough for a small house.
