Ms. Parks does an excellent job of keeping the reader engaged with plot twists that can completely change their perspectives. I feel she also does an excellent job of describing the fall from functional alcoholic to nonfunctioning. Yes, most of the problems, except for Simon’s alcoholism could have been solved if they just told the truth as problems occurred, but that does not happen until “The End”. Adele Parks MBE is one of the most-loved and biggest-selling women's fiction writers in the UK. She has sold over 4 million books and her work has been translated into 30 different languages. Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks absolutely blew me away with its deep dive into the mechanics of a dysfunctional marriage. This one is well-written, sharply observed, and so much more than your typical, predictable dark domestic drama. I could not put this down for a moment. Adele is on fire with One Last Secret. Deliciously deceptive and darkly satisfying. I loved it' Jane Fallon, Just Got Real A massive 10 out of 10 with 5 stars for this amazing story.You may have guessed I liked this book!!!

Rather than allowing us to sympathize with our heroine falling into trap after trap by giving us reasons for her to be that naïve, we instead are simply given a front-row seat to Dora behaving stupidly. This was disappointing since at the start of the novel, Dora is presented as a tough, savvy, worldly-wise woman who knows what’s what. Once she joins Daniel on his trip, she becomes an ingénue style of character, which really doesn’t fit with her previous persona. Here Dora’s told us of her manager Elspeth, who books clients and the screening process… so she’s at ease about her work, even referencing the ‘workplace health and safety’ measures in place. It’s a surprise then when she’s beaten and threatened by a client. So when she’s offered a lifeline by her best friend, and she decides the time is right to get out of the industry. The story itself is grimly tragic, very involving and covers some uncomfortable topics, got to say though the portrayal of Simon’s alcoholism was genius, never have I understood an addiction so well and how it affects every angle of a life then when reading this AND he was I LOVE this authors writing style and the abundance of words in each chapter, I also love the way although the book was dark there were many rye observations and humourAbsolutely gripping, this is revenge lit at its best. But Simon is quite fond of a drink, a pleasure that he cannot deny himself, even if it causes distress and anguish for his wife and daughter. One dark night, as the relationship between Simon and Daisy seems to be at a tipping point, a tragedy befalls the small family, one that will take them to the very brink, and an already fractured marriage will be laid bare and more vulnerable than ever before. Despite some of those contrivances I enjoyed this novel and read it in a sitting, finding it the perfect Saturday night bathtime read! This was fast and fun and easy to read in a single setting as I had a hard time putting it down. I actually liked the narrator, Dora, with alol her inner musings. Sure, some of the crazy stuff that happens in France seemed to stretch my credulity but I just went with it. The climax was a bit surprising and yes, I did hope it would all turn out OK for Dora.
