The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I felt like the last 100 pages -- from the Butler championship on -- were somewhat disorganized and rushed. O’Connor uses scores of interviews with those who know Krzyzewski best to deliver previously untold stories about the relationships that define the venerable Coach K, including the one with his volcanic mentor, Bob Knight, that died a premature death.

Overall, I felt that the book was a balanced look at Krzyzewski, who I have always appreciated being successful while running a clean program. Oh, all that stuff is in there – the nuts and bolts of Coach K’s personal and professional journey – but it’s the rest of it that takes this book from a good read to a great one. About the only big picture thing that isn't detailed is Krzyzewski's involvement with the '92 Dream Team. From my reading of this book, Coach K is probably as ethical as one can be in such an environment, but the reader can certainly draw different conclusions. I am a grateful recipient of a Duke graduate school degree and even before attending Duke, I was a huge fan of both the men’s and women’s BB programs.While the first season gives audiences a glimpse of Carmy's past traumas and family history, The Bear season 2 dives right into them, highlighting how they impact his day-to-day decisions and relationships. Meanwhile, after joining Carmy's kitchen staff as a mere intern and later becoming the sous-chef of The Beef restaurant in The Bear season 1, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) takes a leading role in their new restaurant in season 2.

This is cool: I realized from the tales of Coach K’s West Point squads that I actually saw Coach K’s first Army team play. Only a diehard fan with blinders on or a very naive person would think he ran a squeaky clean program and anyone who has watched Duke play knows the team has benefited from the refs.

After making several references to Coach K's book, The Bearseason 2 finally makes it a significant part of its storyline when Sydney and her kitchen staff make " the greatest comeback of all time. In The Bear season 2's finale, when they finally open their restaurant, Sydney's efforts into honing her leadership skills through Coach K's lessons finally pay off.

When he wasn't using rehashed material, the author relied on anonymous sources, innuendo, and passive voice. As a result, Sydney brilliantly adapts to the dire situation by communicating, trusting, and mindfully leading her staff to the " greatest [kitchen] comeback of all time. A look at how Duke reviews the financial records of top recruits "to ensure that there are no transactions inconsistent with his family's employment status and financial standing. there is so much that could have been pondered, not to diminish Krzyzewski's great success, but to show his human, messy, more questionable side, especially regarding his rage, which is mentioned, but not judged. Realizing the seriousness of her new profile, Sydney makes provisions to become an effective leader before the restaurant opens up.And while Krzyzewski has clearly been an inspirational figure to many, O’Connor doesn’t shy away from discussing his flaws. There are contributions from four former players, several non-Chronicle Duke alumni (including NBA commissioner Adam Silver), Jamie Krzyzewski Spatola and a handful of Duke administrators such as Dean Sue Wasiolek. And then, in 1980, Coach K managed to land the Duke job, leapfrogging a number of more qualified candidates.
