The following buying guide doesn’t offer an opinion on which grinder is the best. That’s because 1Zpresso has done very well at ensuring the features it offers are distributed well across the grinders depending on the brewing methods each is optimized for. Therefore, determining which grinder is best-suited to your needs depends on your brewing style and budget. In the official info from 1Z they mention that both Jx-models are designed specifically for espresso while also being suitable for pour over. While we can look at the statistics above, this says nothing about the actual burr design. Looking at the above figures, we may assume that because the JE has such a large gap range with a broader adjustment, it must be a pour-over focussed grinder. But this is not the case, the burr set in the JE is designed for espresso in that the consistency is maximised in the espresso range and the coating allows for a more robust burr set that can grind fine over and over again with minimal degradation - as opposed to a non-coated burr set. K-Max is all-new to 2021 from 1Zpresso and can be viewed as the successor to the K-Pro. Manufactured from high-grade Aluminium alloy with a brushed/matted 'iron-grey' finish for easy cleaning. My own experience, in terms of consistency, shows that the Jx-grinders are up there with all the famous models, such as Helor 101, Lido 3, and Comandante C40.

Like the other models from the brand, The Q2 has an aluminum unibody with no room for misalignment, while the shaft and burrs are made of stainless steel. Weight isn’t the only thing that matters, however. Size is also important. And with a diameter of only 4,6 centimeters the Q2 fits perfectly inside and an Aeropress. This is something I know many of my fellow coffee geek appreciate. Gripping is made easy by the silicone sleeve. Plus, the wooden handle feels nice in your hand while you grind your coffee – no one wants callouses from hand grinding coffee of all things.Bonus info : There’s also a bigger version called “C2 Max”, which has a slightly larger capacity at around 30 grams. In daily use The case for pour over is confirmed by the particle distribution; there are only few fines. That’s usually not the case with espresso grinders. The Q2 has a small capacity – it can only hold 20g of coffee beans. However, this is hardly surprising given its portability. After all, you’re bound to sacrifice some capacity when choosing a manual grinder to carry with you on the move. Meanwhile, even though the JX-Pro, J-Max, and K-Series grinders may not be as easy to carry with you, they benefit from 35g capacities. Accessories

1Zpresso Range

The Comandante grinder has become one of the most popular grinders in recent years. It’s easy to understand why. It’s a beautiful device where every detail has been obsessively engineered in Germany. The curved handle is a pleasure to use, and is a nice upgrade from the first generation of the grinder (called the Mini Q).

The warranty does not cover damage such as rust or wear and tear as we cannot guarantee the product’s usage or storage. I’ve had plenty of experience using 1Zpresso’s grinders, and they’ve never failed to offer excellent grind consistency in the fine to medium range. The catch cup on the C40 used to be made out of glass; however, a shatter-proof polymer version has been introduced on the newest version called the C40 Mk4. You get the glass version AND the new and more sturdy catch cup when you buy the grinder.The C40 MK3 is also more expensive than most of its competitors in the hand grinders’ premier league. This price difference is probably due to it being manufactured in Germany, where production is more expensive. Q Series: Fits perfectly into the AeroPress plunger for ease of use. This small manual grinder is, in fact, the smallest model making it very compact and portable. (Examples: 1Zpresso Q2, previously Q1) If you can’t afford the 1Zpresso Jx or have small hands and want something lighter, go with the C2 instead.

The Skerton Pro has the general Hario aesthetics, which means understated, beautiful, and soft. It’s hard not to be enamored with this grinder. This grinder is most suitable for manual brewing, but can also handle espresso, even though it’s a bit more work compared to grinders with bigger burrs and longer handles. Since, the basic Jx has incremental steps, you will not be able to fine-tune your espresso shots with 100% accuracy. I have made many shots with it, and they were tasty. However, I think the grinder shines when it comes to manual brewing. I wasn’t a big fan of the old version of the Skerton. The new version, which was released in 2017, however, has upped its game significantly.The 1Zpresso JX Pro manual coffee grinder has an excellent quality, large conical burr. The large size gives a good surface area for hand grinding beans to a high standard. I know the company by chance, as I bumped into their booth at the annual Coffee Expo in Taiwan in 2017. Handle length: The handle can make or break a hand grinder. If it’s too short, you have to spend a lot more energy grinding the same amount of beans. See the picture below for some different types. The cups from the grinder are sweet and have excellent clarity and texture. There’s still some way up to the models from 1Zpresso and Comandante, but overall, the cups are still awesome.
