New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months. Other surfaces must be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate. Although this is one of the best patio cleaner for fast-acting results, it will still take a few days to clean the patio completely. Therefore, if you’re cleaning ahead of a party or gathering you should make sure you use this product a couple of days before to ensure the patio is looking fresh for the big day. As with any other staining concrete project, surface preparation is critical. Any stains, such as rust, will show through in the finished project. Clean the entire surface with a heavy-duty cleaner (Photo 2), working in 4 x 4-ft. sections at a time. Then rinse the concrete with water until you don’t see any more soapy bubbles. For tough rust stains, use a stain remover, and rinse it off with water. For grease or oil stains, use a product that’s designed to remove those stains.
