Everyone remains just as fascinated by her as they have always been and believes this gives them the right to ask me anything. Sophie is a viper, the interactions with her are chilling as she invents mantras and deceptions to back up what the Community is doing. Through premise of Emilia writing her book, we follow her almost documentary style retrospection and all varying elements that occur and there is so much to absorb; from the Shh logo, to the Shellie’s; to a mob of angry men (the 52 as they become known) invading the camp; to a series of highly public protests/publicity stunts (the Airport protest of 2008, involving ear shaped balloons) and how the community starts as a group of women in tents and huts around campfires at the bottom of pub garden seeking solidarity and to be heard in an ever increasingly careless world into an media savvy and sleek, profitable mega group; with visions and resources to improve everyone’s future in a positive way: well that’s the line, they’re spinning! The characters are well developed and very three dimensional given a breathing living humans something to fear and be in awe of. Emilia tells the story of how it all started and of how the Community evolved from its founder's initial ideas.

Emilia has an anger within her that for all of her mother's wish that the world should listen, she felt that her mother did not listen to her. It was such a large topic that she decided to set it up as a non-profit programme, and to invite other artists to collaborate. working for them (Surprise), travelling to the remote wilds of the African Republic of Congo to launch a contraceptive programme, to aid women in the region, all seemingly well-meaning and progressive… or is it? I enjoyed the writing style, almost journalistic as the author explains the story and motivations of the main character. I have to admit, I have my own belief system but I have never been able to lose myself to dive right into this with any conviction so when I am faced with people or characters, I am amazed that people are able to do this.The problem is, The Silence’s own core competency comes far too long in the game…and we’re talking roughly 40 minutes into a 90-minute movie. From a background in education and dramatic arts, Allan Bell was ordained an Anglican Priest in 1995. Eight years later, Rachel and thousands of her followers shock the world as they silence themselves forever. Trigger warnings: the story does cover some dark themes – suicide, etc – so may not be for everyone. A compelling read which makes you think about some of the driving forces behind some current global political decisions.

She is cold and concise but not uncaring - and as she goes through life she tries to balance being the daughter of an iconoclast or icon with simply being her. Shipka is a talented, ascendant actress but her inclusion as a hearing-impaired character puts both the actor and the viewer in a tough spot. The Silence Project is a strange, alienating tale that painfully mirrors the darker and confusing parts of life.I will attempt to do this without spoilers as I want as many people as possible to read this without knowing what to expect as it will blow you away! We share emotionally engaging stories with hundreds of schools, workplaces and communities to help make the topic of mental health more accessible.
