This was an ok read, with super unlikable characters but an engaging story. It centers on Faye who is in the run with a newborn baby, and Rachel who rents a room in her house to Faye. Both characters have things to hide and while there is no major twist, there is suspense throughout.

I thought the ending wrapped up the story perfectly. I may not have been completely wowed but I was definitely entertained. 3 stars!While on duty in the Larsons' home, Vanessa keeps Kaylene in a groggy state with over-medication. She also kills Kaylene's best friend Samantha, who is the first to get wise to Vanessa's game. The slowest to realize the deception is the pilot husband Drew, who is well-intentioned, but an easy victim of being duped by the warped mind of Vanessa.

The story having characters who love the piano, not overly gone on about in the book but when it was it was magical and inspiring The Characters, from unassuming to loud and voracious, Rachel being my favourite, I cant say why but she was an outstanding person to have in your minds eye when reading a story Sally Thorning, part-time environment rescuer and full-time mother, struggles to maintain her sanity and juggle the overwhelming demands of work and home in this superior psychological mystery from British author Hannah ( Little Face The film was a by-the-numbers psycho-on-the-loose film and excessively unpleasant. In the course of the film, we learn a great deal about in vitro pregnancy and related issues such as "cankles," the swelling that occurs in the feet, ankles, and hands in the final trimester. Also, reviewers complaining about how hard it is to keep the large cast of characters straight, are right. It was hard to tell when they were referring to the two jerk cops versus the nicer ones, because all the detectives seem to have names beginning with S.

Recommendations

What I liked about this one is we get all the answers. It sounds lame but I love it when everything is tied up, there are no loose ends. If you’re someone who likes to guess whodunnit you might not be impressed because there is info withheld so I honestly think the chances of anyone working it out in advance are slim.

The usual comically unrealistic LMN plot. Let us go through all the things that were wrong with this. So, not slow starting, maybe just building, is a good word. My advice is not to put it down but keep reading through the slightly odd because it gets good.Then Faye finds herself on the run with her baby. She must get away from Louis. She finds an ad to share a cottage in a remote Norfolk village with Rachel. The price is right and it should be far enough away that Louis won't be able to find her. What Faye doesn't realize is that Rachels last tenant disappeared under mysterious circumstances. For that matter, I felt the end of the whole thing was abrupt. This was the first of Hannah's books that I've read, and having now read Hurting Distance, I get the Waterhouse-Zailer relationship better, but for such an intense book, I was disappointed to have a sitcommy joke to end it.

Faye is almost 40 and terrified that she may never have a child of her own. When she discovers an app that pairs like-minded adults, she jumps aboard. She soon meets Louis. He seems great except when she wants love, he wants only a child and treats this as a transaction. Desperate for a child, Faye agrees. Now Faye a year later, and with a baby in tow, she’s on the run. She runs right into the open house of Rachel, an older woman with a room for rent in her small cottage. However, it isn’t long before things don’t seem as perfect with Rachel as Faye thought. Is she hiding something? Is she safe? I have books 5, 6, 7, and 9 and I think I will read them in the future but might not bother to buy the books in between that I don't have. It's just her *reasons* for doing it that I don't like, and her reasons are consistent with every choice she's made from the beginning: she wants to save face and keep up appearances in her marriage. I say this knowing how uncharitable it must seem, especially when she's traumatized and, as I mentioned, had a recent head injury. But on her way out of the house, she steals evidence, and you would think she'd be doing that to preserve it, right? Wrong. On her way home, she *disposes* of the evidence and the police only learn of its existence because she keeps part of it for herself and drops it on the stairs when she comes in. Because she doesn't want anyone to find out what happened to her.

Cynthia and Michael get along really well. On their way from a meeting, Michael tells her that they make a great team. He doesn’t tell her about him dating Maddie. She clearly likes him. When Cynthia stops by to drop off some papers while Maddie and Michael are drinking wine, Maddie aggressively introduces herself. Cynthia is hurt that Michael wouldn’t have told her. Lily stops Cynthia before she goes and says that she is concerned about Maddie and has a bad feeling. Cynthia promises to look into it. (She later finds out that Maddie stalked another family and her real name is Claire.)
