I could not put it down, I was gripped the whole way through. I finished the book devastated it was over. I needed more, not because it left anything unfinished, but just because the book was that good I wanted to keep reading it. It then jumps into the paranoid "everyone is out to get me" with the wife spotting areas of concerns, finding bones in the garden, putting two and two together that sinister things are afoot. Rosemary's Baby to the character names (a Roman). Toxix herbs are potentially used as murder weapons. The story wears its influences transparently.

A house with a safe room that gets mentioned frequently but then doesn't get used when somebody is in the house threatening Lana. Overall much of this is enjoyable especially the first 60% but the last 30% percent is not to my taste. Finishing this book last night, I was left musing about how I felt about the book. It was definitely addictive reading and kept me hooked. The parts which left me wondering, were, I felt, a little too far-fetched.

Then Lana discovers what happened to the previous residents of their house… And she becomes concerned about the whereabouts of a woman who left her husband and teenage son and hasn’t been in touch with them. Is there actually something dark going on in the perfect little road? The more Lana voices her concerns, the more her husband and the neighbours accuse her of being ‘mad’. Wow, what a great book! I loved everything about it. I haven't read Tony Parson's books for a while, and I now feel like I've missed out on some great reads.' This psychological thriller starts off OK, plods around clunkily, and then ends in a finale that embarrasses both the reader and the writer (probably not the writer).

If you want a fast-paced psychological thriller where nobody is really what they seem and your allegiances are challenged throughout then this is definitely one for you. Becoming tenants of ‘The Gardens’, a residential close where all the houses are large and expensive, and the residents are secretive and mysterious, Lana struggles to settle in. Are the neighbours hiding something sinister, or is she imagining it all? I couldn't leave the book for a minute until I'd discovered how it would all end ... A brilliant book .'
