Rising interest in the vocalist led to a deal with the Telstar/Capital Radio joint venture, Wildstar Records in August 1999. His first single for them, the infectious 'Fill Me In' received substantial national radio airplay and rose to the UK's number 1 spot in April 2000. David repeated the feat in August with '7 Days', and completed a memorable year by winning three MOBO awards two months later. In 2009, he moved to Miami and took a break. Craig bought a luxurious all-white penthouse in the sunny city, and began taking major interest in body-building and getting into shape.Craig remains one of the UK's most loved performers and is at the helm of his own distinctive, authentically British sound, making him one of the most successful artists in UK chart history. Before the global success of his solo career, Craig David started out as a DJ working the UK club circuit; he then went on to sell over 15 million albums as an artist, enjoying 14 Top 10 hits and achieving multi-platinum status in more than 20 countries. He was named best UK newcomer and best R&B act, and 'Fill Me In' was voted best UK single. During the following twelve months he began to make an impact across the Atlantic, culminating in '7 Days' breaking into the US Top 10 in February 2002. Craig David is a critically acclaimed British singer-songwriter. Aged 18, he burst onto the scene with the garage classic 'Rewind' and, following the phenomenal success of his debut album Born To Do It, he has continued to top the charts over the past 22 years, amassing 17 million album sales and over 1 billion streams, to date. Further down the line, things began to unravel. All the negative feelings Craig had been ignoring rose to the surface. He had to change his thinking.

Craig then signed another new record with Universal Motown and released sixth album 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered'. It featured covers of classics from Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Al Green. Craig emerged in late 1999 and early 2000 on the UK soul and R&B scene. His first success was as the smooth, soulful voice on Artful Dodger's 'Re-rewind When The Crowd Say Bo Selecta' that reached number 2 in the UK Top 40 and spent a total of 13 weeks on the chart.

How did he become famous?

I am now in a place where I've learned to have good vibes, to be true to myself, but it hasn't always been this way. This is not a traditional memoir, and it's not a self-help book either. It's a series of lessons learned from a life lived, many of which I've only realised in retrospect - after all, it is only through living that we can learn and grow. Although he didn't go on an official hiatus, Craig reportedly resented the caricature of himself on Leigh Francis' TV show Bo' Selecta!, in which he was frequently parodied. At the age of 14, David was MCing on a local pirate radio station as well as at nearby clubs before moving into DJing, playing mainly garage. It was while involved in this scene that he met Mark Hill of Artful Dodger, also from Southampton. David's career was boosted when he won a national song-writing competition. The prize was to co-compose the b-side of 'Wonderful Tonight', a UK number 3 hit in 1997 for R&B stars Damage. It was a partial biography from Craig in that he briefly described how his career came to be, but this book focuses a lot on how he has had to learn to manage his own feelings when things don't always go to plan. No matter how much money you have and how much of a beautiful house you may have in such a beautiful place, you might still be unsettled and that's OK once you recognise it and accept that and deal with it.
