Although the cable feels somewhat generic, it performs well, despite having a slight memory effect. The Yume have a more forward midrange compared to the KXXS, which are a step behind. This makes the Yume create better vocal clarity and resolution. The KXXS still have a decent amount of detail, just that they aren’t as potent as the Yume. I will keep it short. Yume is truly a good set if you are into neutralish bright sound. Bass heads, definitely not for you. Treble heads will be gratified with the good extension on top. And mid centrics will definitely love this one. There is no metallic timbre to be heard because the sound itself caves before creating openness or a rich region. Source of audio file be it offline FLACS or streaming services like Deezer, Apple music, Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify and the likes.. On the other hand, the instruments can sometimes seems overwhelm the vocals, due to bass centric iem this is.

Although Rinko's finesse expression is supposed to be the timbre of the brand-new 6mm MPMD, the fact that one can feel a clear and distinct line in the core of the sound is a melancholy that is fundamentally similar to the UE TF10Pro, which I once loved and bought four of in total. The Marriage of Figaro -The opera song from Shawshank Redemption, terrible recording but fun and gets me in the mood to listen to music. The Kiwi Ears Quartet is a 2DD+2BA hybrid IEM. It’s more U-shaped compared to Rinko’s V-shaped sound signature. Quartet’s bass is more hard-hitting and has a greater impact. The mids and vocals are more forward on the quartet. Perhaps most importantly, Quartet’s vocals have better stability and density whereas they sound somewhat hazy on the Rinko. The Rinko is an average sounding IEM in terms of technical performance; the stage is large, the imaging could be better, the separation is hardly perceptible, the details aren't particularly forthcoming, and the resolving speed is sufficient to maintain the mix's flow.

Treble extension is better on the Quartet – notes sound airier yet more precise. The overall coherency is better on the Quartet and as a result, its vocals and instruments sound more accurate compared to Rinko. What it's not is a monitor or an IEM for more female-vocal-centric libraries, choral music and acoustic instrumentals - this is definitely not a neutral IEM. On paper, there’s very little to criticise the Yume on. On subjective listening, the discussion becomes a little more nuanced. While I’m firmly in The Church of Sub-bass and would gladly take the Yume over your standard midbass-bloated V-shaped IEM, the Yume would be one of those cases where I’d actually want more midbass presence.Star Child Someone recommended this song to me, and I like how funky it sounds and has nice vocals and a mix of music and things going on. For the planned retail price they might still find their audience but I'd always prefer to save a litte more and make the jump to the Kato since they are tuned so much better in comparison. Imaging is decent. There is nothing to wow or amaze me, but there is nothing to hate either. I can still follow elements very easily with Yume. The midrange is hit or miss, they don't have a natural presentation of real instruments or vocals. They tend to add this strange sense of volume and extra layering over the instruments, which while interesting feels quite artificial and gets a bit tiring over time.
