Hello Mmcfine, everyone is different but, for me, ergonomics are second (or third or fourth) consideration to image quality...not to mention that the A7SII allows complete button remapping anyway. The 80D is worthwhile if you know you’ll be using manual or semi-manual controls frequently. However, photographers who won’t use those features probably should spend their money on a good lens or camera accessories instead of jumping to the 80D. Personally, having used both the Rebel T7i and the Rebel SL2 (called the 800D and the 200D outside North America) alongside the 80D, I was very impressed by all three cameras and would recommend each of them, depending upon your budget.

The EOS 77D features a new-at-the-time 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, which utilises Canon’s on-chip analogue-to-digital conversion technology, as seen on the likes of the distinctly more grown up EOS 5D Mark IV. On paper, this produces cleaner images at higher ISOs compared to the older sensor in the manufacturer’s own 750D and 760D. These specifications might look a little on the low side for 2018, but they combine to form a camera that remains versatile even on today’s tech-heavy market. The 7 frames per second is still highly respectable for a DSLR, and features like Dual Pixel autofocus borrow some of mirrorless cameras’ best traits. The battery life on the Canon 80D is also excellent at 960 photos per charge.I have shot with my "L" lenses and it is impossible to tell which picture comes from the 5D3 and which one from the 80D without the info panel. this is on the laptop screen only, thus far. One-Shot, AI Focus, AI Servo, Live View (FlexiZone - Multi, FlexiZone - Single, Face detection, Movie Servo) However, there is one bug with the highlight alert wich may be minor, but since I haven't found it documented elsewhere I share it with you here.

What a clean and cool video with no attempts at being artificially funny or on an overdose of caffeine. I do not know what kind of a video you might have made with a camera od another make with 4K and better shadow detail (DR). Would it have made a difference when viewed from YouTube on my (Retina) screen? Hardly.

The EOS 77D features the convenience of a touch screen interface, which is nicely integrated into the camera’s broader operational ‘interface’ and is one of the more polished examples we’ve seen. If we’ve one grumble, we’d have liked to see one that’s even larger still than the DSLR provides. Also we’d have liked 100% coverage via its optical viewfinder, rather than the 95% provided here. That being said, screen resolution is a more than respectable 1,040,000 dots and this does also allow you to access its maker’s clean looking graphical interface which is designed to help new user’s get to grips with the camera’s functionality. I'm one of the Canon shooters that went Sony. From bottom to top it seems Canon just isn't as interested in video, letting other manufacturers take a perceived leading position and improving cost/performance ratio as each quarter passes. Canon's "color science" isn't a sell for me, I color correct all my footage anyway, whether it's Canon or not. Of these points, 27 will support autofocus at f/8 when the body is attached to one of two specific lens/ teleconverter combinations (the Canon 100-400 Mark II with 1.4x III or the Canon 200-400 with 2x III). Any other lens/teleconverter combinations resulting in an aperture of f/8 will only function with the center point. The 80D is the first non-professional EOS body that can autofocus in this situation; previous non-professional bodies could not autofocus if the maximum aperture of an attached lens/teleconverter combination was smaller than f/5.6.

Sassan2012, I have a Sony a6300 and a Canon 80D. In my experience with both I wouldn't choose the Sony as superior to the Canon. There are several situations in which the Canon is better like focusing in low light, the skin colors in the Canon pictures are more natural (better than Nikon too), when the picture is taken with areas with a significant range of light intensity the Canon has more latitude (I am not using HDR).
