You can also detach the tank from the machine to take it to the tap, although I fill mine directly with filtered water from a jug to cut down on calcium build up. For one thing it is remarkably quiet, apparently the quietest in its class, I have to now lean in close to hear anything at all; the old one sounded like a helicopter was hovering over the house.With this upgrade to what has been a very good and reliable machine for me it’s now a sad goodbye the old Lavazza Modo Mio and hello Lavazza Idola.

Do not touch the hot parts immediately after use of the appliance. When brewing coffee or milk, pay attention to any splashes of hot liquid. Coffee quality comes from the coffee itself of course, the pod design and the machine’s mechanics. The Idola forces the hot water through the pod at optimum high pressure to get the right crema and does it reliably time after time.

For Italian-coffee lovers who are after a stylish yet practical coffee machine, the Lavazza Idola is highly recommended. Unlike other models in the range, the Idola offers more versatility and convenience. The different brew size options are particularly handy, as well as the temperature boost. More importantly, it delivers excellent espressos that are full of flavour. It may be bigger and more pricier than the other smaller models, but it’s well worth the splurge! About this review, and our reviewer All in all, the Idola is a simple, elegant capsule coffee machine; it’s genuinely hard to find anything bad to say about it. Sure, you could get that Lavazza capsule coffee hit for less with the one-button Lavazza Tiny, but there’s good reason to spend more here. There is the super-fast espresso, espresso lungo, long coffee (90ml) and the free -flow function if you prefer more water in your morning brew. After inserting my capsule, I opted for the short option, and within 30 seconds, had a smooth-tasting espresso. I did notice a little splatter while filtering but fortunately, this wasn’t the case for my following cups. What’s more, it’s incredibly quiet, which is always a bonus for making multiple espressos throughout the day. Considering I’m more of a milky-coffee fan, I was seriously impressed by the quality of the delicious crema. What the Lavazza Idola won’t do is concoct milk-based drinks for you. Milk will need to be added and, if desired, heated manually. But with the wealth of speciality milk frothers on the market, this feels more like an opportunity than an omission.Lavazza say these caps have undergone extensive research to retain the flavour and maximise shelf life to prevent waste. It doesn’t have the milk options of the Lavazza Desea nor is it as small as the Lavazza Tiny. But for me, and I think many people, it’s just right. I love Lavazza’s coffee, it’s not always easy to find their full range of coffee pods on sale in shops – but online is easier. I certainly prefer their coffee to N*****sso’s. Our coffee expert praised the Idola for producing espresso with a rich and creamy crema, noting that each shot looked full-bodied. They also said the coffee had a roasted, savoury aroma, with a gentle bitterness. It heated up from cold in just 30 seconds and took a speedy 35 seconds to pour an espresso shot, and it was the ideal temperature every time we tried it. We also liked that it has a simple design with clear indicators for when the coffee machine was heating up or ready to pour. Not to mention, the Free Dose Beverage button that poured hot water is great for Americano drinkers and for flushing out the machine when cleaning. Take note Other useful new features are an audible warning with flashing light to tell you when the empty pod container is full, and another audible warning if you try to operate the machine without any water in the reservoir. Lavazza coffee machines represent the evolution of the best technology, offering you a traditional and authentic coffee experience that is both practical and full of flavour.
