The Celestant-Prime is one of the prettiest models that I’ve had the pleasure to put together and paint, and is an absolute powerhouse on the table. He can clear units, bombard entire armies, or just move in and pimp-slap any model that needs it. If you can work around his fragility, he can match and exceed the damage output of any other warscroll out there. A truly great centerpiece to any Stormcast Eternal army! Today, we’re going to be covering a warscroll that I know a lot of people want to know about playing with and playing against. There’s so much about this mythical model to cover that it’s going to take up an entire article. I’m talking about the First of the Stormcast Eternals, the Fantasy Primarch, El Queso Grande, Sigmar’s Pimp-Slap-Made-Manifest: the Celestant-Prime!The other 2 aren’t as exciting to talk about. The limiting factor is the once per battle on all of them, which is fine but it means you need to go big and I’m not sure if all these quite get there. Except Final Thunderstrike, ouch! When you said Fantasy Bloodletter = AoS Bloodletter, and if, you were speaking purely on how all the universes are connected and are not trying to say that fantasy bloodletter is the same strength in both therefor someone that could beat that Fantasy Bloodletter can beat it again in AoS as a way to create a 'bench mark' then I apologize. I misunderstood what you were debating. I think the decision on which is better is far more difficult to choose now. Deploying mid-game anywhere on the table (more than 9” away of course) with half your army is still going to be core to Stormcast Eternals, always has been. Most of them aren’t very fast and a large part of their value is being able to come in from anywhere. Watchful Guardians on the other hand is a bit of a slow burn. Its effect only counts for battleline but late game when there’s fewer models on the field counting as three times your size is going to make an impact and potentially hand you the victory. Six, count em six new Battle Tactics which you can choose in addition to the ones in the General’s Handbook. I will confess I have some concerns about these because I’ve seen what they do to 40k. They’re a great idea in theory to encourage players to try and adopt an intended strategy or just add some fluffy options beyond the generic. In reality these are really difficult to keep thinking up new ones and keep them balanced, which leads us to the Haves and Have Nots we were trying to avoid in the move from Second to Third edition. How do these look? Not bad.

Finally, in Astral Templars Vanguard-Palladors and Vanguard-Hunters become battleline. Their ability is very powerful, saving you from needing to use a Hunters of the Heartland battalion and focus those forces on other things. You can even have your Heroes and Monsters benefit, who usually can’t. While a “Monster Hunter” subfaction used to be dicey, in the new Monster heavy meta there is some value here. The Knight Hero buffs these guys in such awesome ways, they’re pretty solid at 285 points for 2. Stormstrike Chariot Oh, and he’s got a 4+ ward now. So he might actually survive a whole turn of combat to fight again. Knight Draconis Gotrek does complain alot yes, but fact of the matter is that if everything in OW is leagues below AoS, then why did Gotrek shouting his OW accomplishments scare away a Godbeast?Defensively, he’s 7 wounds with a 3+ save, two more than a Lord-Celestant. Time has yet to tell whether this is a function of Thunderstrike units being a bit beefier than their, uh, Firstborn companions, or if this is unique to him. Offensively, he’s fine , but nothing to write home about. A D6 shot Stormcaller Baton is interesting but unlikely to make a meaningful impact, and his Blessed Warhammer is nothing to write home about except for the, uh, extra point of damage over the Lord-Celestant. 60 points more, but he is leaving his old mate in the dust. You will never in the future of GW get him for this price ever again. more than 50% off (if like I said above you get the bases seperately or elsewhere) but even with the cost of his base added to this. he’s still more than 50% cheaper than retail. Small Numbers. Because the Stormcast Eternals are a bit more on the elite side, taking any casualties can be a big problem for you – you’ll feel every casualty. As always there remains a lot of versatility in play, you want ranged? You got it. You want to run the tankiest guys you can as Battleline? That’s there. The addition of Dragons adds a new dimension with both two powerful Leader-Behemoths and Zippy riders who can just ruin someone’s day. If you like Stormcast as they were I think you’ll be very happy with this book. If you didn’t, and don’t care about Dragons perhaps our next review is more your speed. The tribes of the Great Parch have varied opinions on the Stormcast; some see them as saviour and try their best to fight alongside them, while others see them as abominations for they do not die and turn to ash like everything else. [19a]Knights Excelsior are for those of you who like your units large and in-charge. Annihilators, Decimators, Protectors, and Retributors all become battleline, letting you have an elite but tanky force. As you can see by the faction trait, it augments your smaller forces with better hit and wound. I’m not sure if it makes up Paladins being on the more mediocre side but it definitely will scratch an itch.
