An additional range of accessories allow the FP715 Si to be used in other upgrade situations where the unit being replaced is larger than the new unit and a decoration scar would normally have been left. Thanks for your considered responses. I have the manual but when I follow the instructions to reset the date and time, it just doesn't work! So, I have just come to the conclusion that updating it makes sense. One of the key features of the FP715Si is its multiple switching options. So, from what I am gathering, I can buy pretty much buy any 2-channel CH/HW controller, but need to get a good sparky in to do the necessary wiring and installation. Can I confirm if you all agree that this is correct and a sensible approach?

As it works with just one thing on at once in my case, is it possible to bridge the wires for the Central Heating so that it is in effect on all the time but could be left in the off position? I guess I will just plump for the 2 channel controller that I like best and hire a sparky to install it (I know my limitations). Installation is made easy as it fits industry standard wall plates, so no rewiring is required. Small and compact in size but with a quality, sharp display, the Danfoss FP720 is really easy to use.

It seems the Drayton Wiser TRV head is about the best, with algorithms to work out how long it takes to heat a room without over shooting, and the base has the option to work with OpenTherm with an add on module. Since I use oil OpenTherm does not interest me.The FP715 Si two-channel full programmer has separate Heating and Hot Water outputs operating on completely independent time bases for maximum flexibility. I was hoping to be able to do this myself, as I like to learn new skills, but it sounds like this would be a step outside my comfort zone I apologise that this has turned into a bit of an essay, but any expert help you could pass on to me would be greatly appreciated. Relieved to see that this programmer is still available but thanks to coronavirus getting a tradesman to fit one could be a problem as we are in isolation due to age.My advice: Find an electrician who enjoys heating controls and let him/her select the product that will do the job. Otherwise you’ll buy the wrong thing and waste your money. It seems to have been doing it more often recently so I figured I'd try moving it out of the airing cupboard incase it was the heat affecting it. I drilled a hole in the wall and mounted it in more or less the same place on the other side (so now in the landing). But can I bypass the wiring of the danfoss to just make the CH on all the time, so it can then be left switched off on the danfoss? Or does that confuse it?! If however as likely it switches 230 volt, then you can fit a system which can link to TRV's in the future allowing you to control each room independently. The Danfoss FP715Si is a thermostat that offers precise temperature control for residential heating systems. Designed with functionality in mind, this thermostat allows users to easily adjust and maintain their desired indoor temperature. I got it wrong, so trying to stop you making same mistake, I selected Energenie as was told they worked with Nest, but that is not the case. There is a guide here which also says Energenie works with Nest, seems they did until Google took them over. At the point of installation, you can choose to have either a 7-day, 24 hour, or 5 day/2-day operation. You can then set 2 or 3 on/off points for each day, enabling you to make your central heating work to your schedule. Additionally, the programmer can be set for either ‘pumped’ or ‘gravity’ hot water. The wallplate used follows the industry standard pattern, as used by many of the other time control manufacturers. This allows for direct replacement often without the need for re-wiring.

Earth, neutral and live is fairly self-explanatory. Am I correct in thinking that the following applies? The terminals used will depend on the design of plumbing system that it is controlling. Yours is commensurate with very many in the UK. Some do have a connection to terminal 1 others, like yours don't need it. None, (with a few very rare exceptions, normally old installations) have a connection to terminal 2. the Motorised Valves (HPA2) or your Circulating pump - its not always the timers fault but your electrician will be able to diagnose the fault for you before you buy. However you say "Turned the thermostat right down but heating stayed on." which does not seem to point to the programmer. Probably it would need connecting to the wiring centre, not to the controller as you have with the TP9000.
