This was never going to be a literary work of art but it was a very entertaining read that I stayed up into the small hours to finish. The first was for the most darts number twos in one minute, which stood until 19 November 2020 when Ricky Evans broke the record with a total of 25. But it was at the camp in Hemsby, Great Yarmouth, where he got to perform a stand-up routine for the first time… and a star was born. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

And to be clear, his book is an autobiography, so it is about him, but it’s also about all of us, and comedy, and entertainment, and writing, and process, but I swear it’s about you and me, too! On 8 November 2022, it was announced that Mack would be hosting that year's Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a warm and honest storytelling, full of Lee’s natural wit and charisma, and reflective of the gentle, humble man behind the mask. Mack went on to have various other jobs, and performed his first "open mic" slot in 1994, while studying at Brunel University, from where he graduated with a degree in Drama. If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.Having said that, Lee Mack is not one of those comedians known for oversharing, confessional comedy and you get the very real sense he has his head screwed on and doesn’t allow himself to get carried away by showbusiness and all it’s excesses, which whilst they can be enjoyable, can be damaging if not kept well under control. That was a clever way of revealing a little bit of Lee Mack’s psyche, whilst playfully trying to hide his true self behind this play of him being on the couch. He goes on to talk about casting and how he preferred working with comedians who could act rather than actors who could deliver a joke.

After a few years of dabbling in meditation, he feels the time has come to decide once and for all whether he should seriously seek spiritual enlightenment. The pair pretty much took the whole encounter in their stride, though, with Lee agreeing whole-heartedly with both the glowing (and not so glowing) review! And this isn't simply a straightforward memoir, for there's also scripted sections between each chapter in which he details his ongoing sessions with a shrink.which I love, and in Not Going Out, which is his sitcom, but I didn’t really know what to expect going into this book.
