After his surprise return in Fast X's credit scene, Johnson announced that his standalone movie would act as "a fresh, new chapter & set up" for Fast X Part 2. We don't yet know when that'll arrive though, so that's all we know for now.

Could the Hobbs movie be part of the trilogy that Diesel was referring to when he said Fast X was actually the start of a trilogy and not a two-parter as originally thought? Or are we getting yet another Fast & Furious movie on top of Part 2 and the Hobbs movie?It's possible that Statham will also pop up in the solo Hobbs movie, but maybe the fact it's not being referred to as Hobbs & Shaw 2 suggests he's only going to appear in the 'main' timeline. What's interesting is that based on the Fast X trailer, Dante appears to be blaming Dom solely for his father's death. The trailer shows that Dante kidnaps Dom's son Brian at one point, one of his many threats to break Dom's familia.

Reyes tries to stop them, but it only leads to Dom ramming the vault into Reyes's car. However, it's not Dom who kills Reyes – it's Hobbs, out of vengeance for Reyes slaughtering his entire team earlier in the movie. The major casualty of Fast X was John Cena's Jakob Toretto who sacrifices himself to help Dom save his son. Jakob's car blew up with him in it, but we didn't technically see a body, so in this series, you can never say never. Vin Diesel confirmed in early June 2023 that the follow-up to Fast X will be arriving in cinemas in April 2025. But it won't be the next Fast & Furious movie we see as Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs is getting a solo movie before then.
