If you don’t mind separating your routine into a 2-step process in the mornings, then getting Brut Aftershave is certainly an option, and then you can always top up with the Brut cologne if you want more coverage or a stronger scent. 4. Scent I'll confess that Brut was never really something I grew up around. My dad never wore it, neither did his dad (my paternal grandfather). My maternal grandfather supposedly wore it, but he died before I was born. Either way, I kind of had to get to know Brut myself, and I've gathered that it's not really a fragrance for me. On me it smells mossy yet sweet, clean but with a slightly animalic note that adds a sense of danger. Of course, in Junior High I got some flak for wearing a male cologne, but at that time I wore men's clothes pretty much all the time anyways, so I was used to it.

I usually wear and enjoy it after a shower in the shiny cool winter evening ,when sky is blue and and the sunlight has turned to orange ,sitting in the open under the sky in solitude, sun is landing in the west and full winter moon is rising from the east, it gives an strange feeling of relaxation and calmness, no rush , no one around . However, due to the differing alcohol contents, the citrus notes become more prominent with the Brut Aftershave, and the herbaceous and powdery notes are more prominent with the Splash On, which tends to have a lighter scent.

So, for the few of you that haven't smelled Brut, what does it smell like? Well, it's a classic lavender-coumarin fougere, with a spicy middle and coumarin/tonka bean to lend to the sweetness. Kind of soapy and very "barbershop"-like.Being a passionate lover of Givenchy’s Gentlemen, Azzaro PH, Guerlain’s Héritage etc., I never trembled for such an ancient, quasi–prehistoric, scent as Brut… I used to have some memories about the green plastic bottle of the 90’s… or some about the current Fabergé’s “Original” version, in the squared glass (pictured above)…
