Navigating pot sizes poses problems for amateur and pro gardeners alike, but once you’ve understood the fundamentals, you’ll be able to select the right size with confidence. Dimensions: 55.5cm diameter top, 39cm diameter base and 48.2cm depth. Internal top diameter 50.5cm. Capacity: 75 litres. This is the size that many nurseries use for 'specimen' plants. These are plants that were grown in 3 litres last year, have been moved into these larger pots, and then grown on for another year. Our Rose Pots are ideally suited for deep rooted plants. This is pretty much the size of a full grown shrub or small tree. Once planted it will look like it has been there for years. For volumes under 1 litre, pots are measured by their diameter at the top. Sizes can range from 5cm to 11cm. In reality, however, you will usually see 9cm pots, because most smaller volumes can be planted as ‘plugs’ in seed trays. Seed tray cells vary from 4cm to 8cm in diameter. Volume calculations for pots are often used when determining how much feed or water should be provided to animals or plants. A 4 liter plant pot has a volume of 0.15 cubic feet. This is equivalent to 1 gallon, which is the standard size for a potted plant. To calculate the volume of a 4 liter pot, you simply need to multiply 4 liters by 0.0353146667 (this is the conversion rate from liters to cubic feet).This will give you the total number of cubic inches that your pot can hold. For example, if your pot measures 10 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 6 inches deep, then its soil volume would be 480 cubic inches.
