To put it plainly, I took some floor loom lessons including overshot, but I have yet to throw on my rigid heddle loom. I have, of course, been watching your work through the years. Thanks you from France to you twice to share your enthousiasm for the fiber, and particularly for the weaving.

I wonder if this book Crazy Shot will be released in Kindle format at some point. Beautiful designs that would help me feel fully enabled. Watch out world. 🙂 Myra Wood is a well known fibre artist with an impressive array of artistic skills and talents. In fact, I’m quite amazed by all her achievements in teaching, writing books and creating. She is a huge inspiration!With so many projects to learn, I think overshot was one that stood out the most to me. I have only just begun. I felt so much gratification at having the opportunity to weave overshot on a floor loom, that I would certainly wish to know how and to develop overshot skills on the rigid heddle loom. I was a pretty crafty kid. My mom taught me how to sew and crochet and we made tons of Barbie doll and kid’s clothes. I continued crafting through adulthood, adding new crafts every couple of years- more sewing, quilting, embroidery, tapestry and bead weaving, tatting, you name it, always with an emphasis on creative expression. In 2003 I started teaching knitting classes at a local yarn store and within a couple years I began teaching knitting and crochet on the US national circuit for XRX/Stitches, Vogue Knitting, guilds and special events. Along the way, I taught 5 classes for Craftsy and wrote 3 books and published lots of patterns. Up until Covid, I was traveling around the US almost every month. ( I don’t miss the airports but I do miss seeing everybody in person).“ You may be thinking “this looks way too advanced for me!”, but that is the beauty of it. All you need is the basics, plus a good dose of patience and an adventurous attitude. I love weaving on a variety of looms. But to explore all the possibilities of my rigid heddle looms is my favorite thing. Myra’s technique is absolutely fascinating! I would love to have this book and learn and dive into these colors and patterns.

I am fairly new to weaving though I have been a knitter for most of my life. At the moment I am mostly doing plain weave, but anxious to try more advanced techniques. I am also a watercolor artist, so I really fascinated by color and the way different colors interact with each other. This book looks like a great way to learn more, advance my skills, and play with lots of color! I feel like I have a great toolbox to work with and I love combining ideas from different crafts.

I have been spinning and knitting for a couple of decades and have only recently begun weaving. My only regret is I didn’t start sooner. I’m always looking for a fibery adventure and the overshot technique is calling me.

I have my first ever Rigid heddle loom (or any loom for that matter) coming in the mail! EEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!! And have absolutely zero experience. But that hasn’t stopped my in the past, I am known for diving off the deep end! When I learned crochet it wasn’t long before I started trying my hand at lace and my second knitting project was a basic sweater….. My crafty friends like to remind me I’m nuts hahahahaha! This technique looks like it’s in-keeping with my usual personality quirk but I also won’t end up drowning!!!! I love the challenge of trying something new, just as much as I love having beautiful things around our home.
