This book is up there on my favourite reads of 2014, hell even up there on my favourite reads of ALL TIME!Seriously, it was a day by day account of a 19 year old (overly positive) girl starting college in a new place. Now that I’ve finished it, the first thing that popped up in my mind was well, that wasn’t what I expected.

It’s going to envelop you in fully with all its glory, and by the time you’re done there’s no way you could possibly be the same.

The way they spoke to each other, the love and tone that their expressions and conversations held was simply beautiful. I don’t have the right words to describe what that feels like, but if you read Bright Side by Kim Holden, you’ll get to experience that for yourself.You start to fear that you’ll be that person hurting and feeling and clutching your tear-stained Kindle as you pray that The Almighty Worst won't happen.

He too, tries to stay away for reasons of his own, but he can’t help but love Kate’s personality, her edginess, her kindness and feistiness. But I love that this book also made me smile so big, made me laugh, and genuinely made me happy and look at life in a different light. I don’t have a personal experience in the subject matter so I don’t know how I would cope being at either side of the story, but I know for sure it requires a lot of strength for all involved. The first time I heard this song I was in the car with my husband and son driving down Church Ranch Road to go to lunch on a Saturday afternoon. And I know you could argue that the ending had happy moments and all that, but death of a loved one is hard, and honestly I hate sad books.She falls in love with a guy, who's a father in his 21 years, whose wife died 4 years ago, meaning he had his daughter when he was 15-16. I think the best way for adults to present the story is as a reminder to all of the kids that we don’t necessarily know what others are dealing with. The story ebbs and flows across the pages, seeping its way under your skin and penetrating even the hardest of hearts. But the care home’s Director will not stand for drunken bar crawls, illicit fireworks and geriatric romance on her watch. Have you ever come across someone who always looks on the bright side of life, regardless of the hardships the one has to bear?
