Some romance authors do indeed write way more eloquently and inventively, managing to dish out sensible plots and credible characters, yet most of them waffle too much plunging their readers into a deep slumber. <3 And then there's Cora that writes trashy content that people consistently look down on but whenever a new release comes out, they're the first one to jump on the bandwagon. 🤡 CUTE. Each of the books in this series are stand-alones, so they can be read separately, but I honestly feel you should read the first book because the characters in the first book do make appearances in this one too.

His treatment of her safety is my major no. The cheating was still an issue but I did not realize he himself was unsafe in his sex practice. I think any die hard fan of this series will tell you the same thing. This author does not write easily likable heroes, and she probably puts her characters in the most difficult situations too. Which is why I love this series. Truthfully I loved Matteo, I thought his character was probably the most likable as apposed to Luca, his brother who was an absolute asshole. I'd like to rant for a second and ask: Is it just me or was Luca absolutely horrible in this book? Disgustingly so? The way he treated Gianna was unforgivable, the things he said! And I feel like Aria could have stood up for her sister in most cases! Matteo was completely innocent because he never saw Luca in action! I feel like some of the angst in this book was Luca's fault, without his meddling things would have gone a lot smoother! Aren’t you loyal to me?” he murmured. “Don’t you think you owe me the truth? Don’t you think it’s your duty? Not only because I’m the Boss of the Outfit, but because I’m your husband.” The only reason that this book did not get 5 stars from me was because it needed some editing/proofing. There were multiple instances of incorrect word usages and/or tenses. It was pretty distracting and sometimes laughable. I think that perhaps this stood out even more because the rest of the story was so well-written and appealing. The characters were well-developed, etc.I’m a man of sin, Valentina. My experience taught me that good seldom wins. If there is a devil, he’s certainly the patron of the Outfit.” Her father is an asshole! Ηe and all the Outfit treated her very bad... Her only shield is Matteo... This second installment in the series was so damn good! Valentina is fantastically strong, sexy and smart heroine. I just loved her and struggled with her as she marries the head of the family who’s still hung up on his dead wife. I enjoyed the love story in this one more, mainly because it features two characters who hate each other. But do you know how much I hate when a guy in a story is having sex and is all "you are mine" "no one can have you" "MINE MINE MINE!" in a way that makes me feel like the heroine CAN'T have a sense of self. Like, listen. Cool your jets. This is an equal partnership.

She doesn't like and she can't accept what Matteo represents... So, whatever is this feeling deep down inside she is trying to force it away... Fiore Cavallaro, who ruled over the Chicago Outfit and with it the crime in the Midwest. Aria's father was only the Consigliere, the adviser to Fiore - Fiore's the Boss. I like Matteo but his obsession with Gianna is absolutely senseless, and after talking how much Luca needs to keep his face Matteo just goes around almost doing his best to make Luca seem weak. I complain about insta-love in books sometimes, but this is one of those times where I won't not because it didn't bother me but the MC's relationship progressed at a dare I say completely realistic pace for people in their position and with their histories. Valentina's drive to break down Dante's walls is what probably made him finally open up in the end.

I knew going in that this dealt with an arranged marriage so it was something I had to get over if I ever planned on enjoying it. And I did. Furthermore I actually really liked the beginning of the book. We see Aria's struggles, her hardship and the unfairness of it all. Being born into a family that stripped you of yours choices for the sole reason of having a vagina. Not being able to choose your life style or decide who to spend it with because women were only born to obey and warm the beds of their husbands. She's bound to be married whether she wants to or not.Okay, I'm again torn how to rate this one. I still think that the one about Aria and Luca was probably the best one. This one was slightly better than the one about Valentina and Dante but still... Not really sure how to rate it. A slow burn Mafia romance. A book on marriage, dignity, love, understanding, kindness, sacrifice and care. Highly recommended!!! Enjoy!!

More so, the cheating scene became a milestone in AriaLuca relationship, egging on a significant shift in their dynamics. It wasn't introduced mindlessly to scandalize a bunch of pearl-clutchers. Whether you like cheating or not in romance books is a matter of your personal preference that bears no relevance to the book. 😂 Luca is a cold-blooded killer and is in line to be the next Capo of the New York family. He doesn't try to hide the fact that he isn't a good guy. He's lived a life where emotions were weaknesses that could be exploited by enemies and betrayals are a dime a dozen. So just watch in incredulous fascination pampered mafia princess Aria shoot a Russian gangster in the head, not missing a shot on her first try ever, only to catch a stray bullet in her SHOULDER (🤣) from a seasoned mafia man (🤣🤣) in return (🤣🤣🤣), and don't ask questions.
