Hide has positive and negative aspects to the story and as long as you know you are in for a quick and engaging ride, not spine-chilling horror, you will enjoy this book. It didn’t add value to her character or the story in my opinion because it was just such a quick “Oh she acts this way because __________ happened to her”.

Sometimes all you want from a read is something on par with reality TV and Hide encapsulates that vibe.She had zero redeeming qualities and her megalomaniac persona portrayed in her journals made it so lovely to hate her and all the immediate family. The competitors range from internet influencers looking for viral content and tech bros hoping for a chance for some face time with the executives of the extreme sports company sponsoring the event to a young woman trying to rebuild her life in the wake of an abusive relationship and a rural gas station attendant who just wants to make some real-life friends. posters advertised, and it was true: Crowds surged through the gates in the morning and didn’t stumble out again until the sun had set, and spotlights at the exit guided them free. I read the original version of Hide last year when it released, and while I enjoyed it, I remember thinking it had a lot of facets that didn't translate well to a written novel and would have worked better in a visual medium, like a film or mini-series—or, lo and behold, a graphic novel! From our twist on the classic Full English or truffled scrambled eggs to avocado on toast or homemade granola - sweet or savoury, the choice is yours as to how much to indulge.

Hannah has been an avid consumer of all things dark, gritty, and fantastical since reading A Game of Thrones at way too young of an age. The amusement park was a hugely successful endeavour until a tragedy involving a missing child saw the place closed under mysterious circumstances. Each has their own reason for being in the competition, but you start to realise that they may have more in common than they know.I especially liked Ava, a disabled veteran with whom Mack becomes quite attached to, in spite of her fears of getting attached.

White’s descriptions of some of the decaying and overgrown attractions are hauntingly effective, as players hide in hollowed-out carousels, decrepit roller coasters, and giant swings with broken chains that limply sway like hanks of hair. Also we didn’t even have POV shifts with chapters or any kind of announcement, you’d just be reading through pages from Mack’s POV at one point and then suddenly with no indication you’d be reading from Brandon’s POV. Still, the characters are compelling, and the hide-and-seek aspect of the book is entertaining, if not exactly scary. But when he discovers a dark secret, he is forced to confront his inner demons and finds himself in a desperate race against time to find his wife before a dangerous killer closes in on her. Hide is a novel worth your time because it's the good kind of simple we all crave to read sometimes whilst containing engaging characters and moments that make sense throughout the story.

Mack is our primary protagonist, but many of the competitors get developed as we spend time in their minds during the game.
