I love that the voices are different, but polished and seamless in conveying a fictional story with universal themes through a variety of Muslim characters without talking down or over explaining anything. What I really liked about this book is that the author has successfully managed to combine the gravitas of a 'serious' book with the light touch of an illustrated 'coffee table' book.The images are beautiful but the words are eloquently, intelligently and precisely thought yet space is left for personal interpretation. Claire is also the FOUNDER of GROUNDED GrownUps® with a coaching community and other resources for people who are ready for the next step to becoming more grounded. Ruth regularly contributes to mainstream and independent publications on themes of mental and emotional wellbeing, nature connectedness and adventure, and her work has been featured in Stylist Magazine, The Telegraph as well as BBC Radio 4 Ramblings with Clare Balding. It feels like it has in some small way opened something up within me that has been closed off for a long time; I am very thankful to Ruth for writing such a healing and transformative guide to connecting with nature!

Ali books, the poetry from they young lyricist to the representation and discussions of Muslims not being a monolith, and the sprinkling of a Hadith or Quranic ayat here and there (I wish there was more), the book tugged at my heart strings. In autumn 2018, I ran solo and unsupported across the Bosnian Dinaric Alps, an assumed world first, and I continue to enjoy inspiring people through new adventures that combine my love for place, people and purpose. The four POV characters were each so unique and yet their personalities and internal conflicts worked so well together. This is an area I walk to every morning with my dog, it is somewhere I have learnt so much about simply by observing the landscape and wildlife on a daily basis. Along the way, she encountered an out-of-season, out-of-time atmosphere that haunted every landscape, allowing her to explore themes such as alienation, our perceived sense of 'home' and the isolation of travel.

She is interested in the inner and outer journeys we make, the stories we tell about them and the time we spend in solitude cultivating a two-way relationship with the living planet. That said there was still a lot of wisdom I took from this book and it is one I will certainly be dipping into many many times. I love the diverse inclusion of showing Muslims that don’t speak Arabic or don’t know if they are Muslim enough, of Black Muslims and Black culture, of being an only children and struggling with siblings, understanding parental expectation and finding your voice to speak up to those you love. The overall effect was to slow down my reading and linger over the message rather than race on to the next page.

It’s voice is warm and companionable - a book to keep on your bedside table or take outside on a wander. And of course high jinks entail, ventures into off limits areas possibilities of missing their flights, worried parents,and just a whole lot of fun. For some people reconnecting with nature is not always easy, sometimes this is an access thing nut there are often other reasons behind this. This is a tale of courage and imagination that will inspire you to grow your own productive paradise and live your dreams.
