Released in 2022, Splendor Duel is a two-player only standalone game based on Splendor that retains some of the main gameplay mechanisms of that design. Splendor Marvel is the heroic take on the award-winning original! Avengers, assemble and take on the evil forces and Thanos himself, in a bid to stop him gathering all the infinity stones! While the cards you hold in your hand are secret, the number of gems and gold tokens in your possession must be clearly visible. Any development cards you buy must also be visible to all players. The player who has the most prestige points by the end of the game is the winner. If there is a tie, the player who bought the fewest development cards is the winner. Hate drafting alone won’t win you a game of Splendor (usually) but if it’s often easy to see what the next step for your opponents are and you need to stop them whenever possible. Pay attention to what your opponents are doing and try to anticipate their moves.

Looking at what colors are popular with Nobles can also help tell you what gems other players are likely to fight for. If everyone is fighting for Reds and Blues you might notice a White Ladder or Green Ladder play available on the board early and go after it early enough so it’s too late for the rest of the table to stop you. Splendor Tips & Strategies: Early Game You get a gold token once you reserve a card and it is like a wild card that can be used to replace any gem token. The rules here may vary according to regional variations or to make the game easier/ harder.

When a player collects several development cards, the player might be able to attract the attention of a Noble. This basically means that a player might be eligible to earn a noble card if he/she owns the number and type of development cards mentioned on the noble. That grumble aside, each of the expansions work, and work well. The Cities can tend to shorten the game or help someone who is behind to sneak a win. The Orient can also shorten the game but adds some nice little wrinkles to the mechanics. Trading Post allows you to gain some nice game changing bonus’ as well.You MUST take up to 3 tokens in a line from the board (excluding gold – if there’s a gold, it interrupts the line so you can only take the token(s) up to the gold one). You must keep the tokens you have and the Jewel cards you have visible to your opponent (except reserved cards – see below). This is very much a cooperative game and you must fight to recruit the best heroes you can as you can only emerge victorious if you have the strongest team on your side!
