Sometimes a book goes temporarily out of print - and sometimes no audio version has ever been recorded. I did enjoy how the coven was structured, and the idea of magicals striving for an overall positive balance in the world (though I feel that wasn’t really followed up). She has been passed through quite a number of foster homes and has had some very bad experiences in all but the last one; The last foster home was with the Smith family. This book is incredible in its own right, and once you get past the slight similaries at the start, and they are only slight similarities; you get to the thumping heart of the book and when you reach that point, you will be totally hooked on it and won't want to stop reading for anything. As she begins to learn who she is, she uncovers a terrible hidden past about herself and her family.

It gripped my heart and drew me into the magical world Harley discovers, and I found myself unwilling to put it down. It kept my attention to the end, I didn't realise who the culprit was for all the mischief going on in both worlds right up until they were revealed, which was great! Fans of the series might find it intriguing to delve into other works by {author name} to see how their writing has evolved or how different themes are explored across their body of work. He is absolutely fascinating and I hope the rest of the series has a lot more focus on him, I just adore him.I happened by this review when looking for reviews about this series since I was contemplating reading it. Able to read other peoples emotions, she is invaluable at her job in the casino where she's employed catching card sharks, and she's very good at her job which is in the human world.

However the book does have some positive elements (hence the three star rating); it is well written, there are a few well crafted action sequences and the story had a couple of original ideas around how magic might be used in a magical society. I’ll get to the actual review part shortly, but this bothered me so much that I just have to get it out of my system.Here, you'll discover not just the publication year, which is essential for understanding the context and evolution of the series, but also a succinct summary that teases the story without spoiling any surprises. After she witnesses a monster attack and aids another Magical in stopping said attack and capturing the monster, she learns that there’s a whole secret magical community out there, and she is not alone.

But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. Harley is introduced to the San Diego coven, and starts to learn how to properly channel her abilities. But after a disturbing twist of events, Harley quickly realizes that her past is darker than she could ever have imagined.

I bought this book on the basis of the number of very positive reviews, particularly those comparing the book to the Harry Potter series. I am really looking forward to reading more about the world of the Magicals and I want to know more about the Purge. And if you’re looking for easy to consume fantasy with some fun and interesting bits and are not too concerned with how it is written and originality, then this is definitely a good book to read. Audible wants to give you the most complete selection we can and we'll keep adding series and filling in gaps as quickly as possible.

The description and detail in the book is amazing, I can picture every scene in my imagination perfectly! So yes HP has definitely "inspired" the story, but when you put those elements aside there really is no comparison.
