Divide the dough into 16 equal portions, by dividing it in half, then dividing each piece in half 3 more times. A standard 9x13 baking pan will fit 15 rolls comfortably, so you can either discard the last little bit of dough, or bake it separately. Pineapple juice –This sweet tangy addition is a key flavor profile to our Hawaiian Rolls so don’t skip it!Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan and arrange the dough balls in 5 rows of 3. Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise again until doubled in size. This can take up to another 1 and ½ hours. Use room temp canned pineapple juice. Fresh pineapple juice contains enzymes which will destroy the gluten. Because I love the bread so much, I just could not resist making some from scratch. And then I couldn’t resist slathering them with honey butter. If using active dry yeast, please make sure you activate it first by dissolving it in a bit of warm water. Hawaiian sweet rolls are my favorite dinner rolls. If we’re having bread with dinner, it’s going to be these rolls. They are made similar to my easy homemade dinner roll recipe but they’re a lot sweeter. Scrape the dough into a lightly oiled bowl and cover. Let rise for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, it should be about doubled in size or a little less. In a medium size bowl, combine the melted butter, buttermilk, pineapple juice and brown sugar. Slightly whisk so that it’s all combined. Wait a bit until mixture cools a bit (if it’s too warm from the melted butter) then add the extracts. Form the kneaded dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl turning once to grease top. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours.
