Sky, I loved her so much, you can’t help but feel for her and connect with her , even if I’m not an eco-vegan perfect soul that she is, she’s so likeable and you just want her to come out on top every time. Darragh is our gorgeous leading man, he seems so perfect, gorgeous, charming (once the initial hostility has passed) and loves kids, is he too good to be true ? Well you’ll have to read it to find out because you’ll get no spoilers from me. What is there not to like in this book? Christmas lights, an old house, snow and happiness. However, things soon begin to thaw and they tentatively become friends and just maybe a little more. I loved Sky as a character. She had a troubled history but had made a fantastic life for herself through hard work and determination. She also had a great sense of fun combined with an acute awareness of social and ecological responsibility which underpinned everything she did. Young Wilf was a joy and as for Daz I really felt for him as his loyalties were torn and he was rather put in a no-win situation.

Despite the fact that the plot centers on a series of surprises, the surprises are not always that surprising, especially for anyone familiar with holiday programming on Lifetime. For the most part, the story follows the traditional pattern of stories about families and holiday obstacles.

I'm not, however, through with the fashion dichotomy that's unfolding in my exploration of winter 2023/2024’s trends. In a season which, by all accounts, is being applauded for accurately representing women and their needs, why is the industry ignoring a significant number of us in the process? Research carried out by Vogue Business found that, of 9137 looks across 219 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, just 0.6% were plus-size (UK 16+), and 3.8% were mid-size (UK 10 to 14). This means 95.6% of looks presented for winter 2023 were in sizes UK 4 to 8. Why is this the case? Some are blaming the trends themselves—much of the '90s and '00s looks that are currently resonating were first born in a thin cultural peak, and life as we know it is imitating that once more. I say let's speak the truth: The luxury fashion industry still has a problem with non-straight bodies, and any progress it has made to be more inclusive has regressed. In recent years, the body-positivity movement has continued to gain momentum and is an agenda-setting topic on social media, so why is it that so many brands are unwilling to embrace it? For this, I don't have the answer, but I can direct your attention to the brands that were body-positivity allies this season and whose shows I saw myself represented in—Karoline Vitto, Sinéad O'Dwyer, Ester Manas, Christian Siriano, Collina Strada and Di Petsa.

The information on housing, people, culture, employment and education that is displayed about Winter Street, Sheffield, S3 7EL is based on the last census performed in the UK in 2021. It is simply marvellous and really did make me feel as though I was in a winter wonderland at times. Another triumphant story from an author I absolutely love.

There is a vast amount of supporting characters whose storylines are weaved around Sky’s to bring all the characters together and to help and support each other as we typically see in a village with its welcome ( and sometimes unwelcome ) community spirit. There is a blossoming romance that faces some bumps along the road but it made it feel a more genuine relationship that has its battles to face as two people really get to know each other. We have the sweet natured Wilf too who is a key character who is facing a big change in his family dynamic but having Sky and Daz to help him with various distractions was just what he needed. That coupled with a sprinkle of festive vibes, a Christmas light street competition and a found family Christmas, it’s perfect for that Xmas literary hit in December. Ava is the only daughter. She's a music teacher whose love life is a mess. She's in love with Nathaniel but he's not as serious with their relationship as Ava wishes it to be. She wants more from him. Ava does have Scott in her life. She knows he's in love with her but she doesn't think about him that way but maybe she should.

This book was filled with community spirit and I loved how Christmas Day turned out for them all. Wilf and Sky’s friendship was endearing; once again, she had that connection and ability to help, without taking control. I knew that Abby was up to no good as soon as she appeared on the scene but it was fun seeing her story play out and watching Daz kindly put her in her place. A White Christmas On Winter St, is a charming and engaging read. The setting of Middledip is idyllic and oozes warmth and community spirit. A gorgeous heartwarming, festive read! It envelopes you into life on Winter St and rapidly has you rallying around Sky and the exploits of her life.

It’s not long before the locals are making themselves known and either enticing Sky to the local pub, or dictating what she should do to prepare for the annual street decorating competition. Whilst Sky may seem quite closed off she’s not shy about expressing herself and the way she handled the decoration committee had me grinning from ear to ear. She was firm without being rude and made it clear that she would do it her way and in her own time. The nature touches that were introduced in the story were lovely and once again showed how the simplest of activities can be the most enjoyable.
