How the traditional recipe came about is a bit of a mystery, although legend says it came from a batch of peppermint creams that ‘went wrong’. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure accurate information is supplied we are unable to accept liability for any incorrect information. The recipe consists of sugar, peppermint oil, water and the addition of glucose – which is how it differs from earlier mint confectionery. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman included mint cake in their supplies for their 2004 motorcycle trip around the world in Long Way Round. Quiggins have been making Kendal Mint cake since 1880 which is longer than any company still in existence.

Using the same core ingredients as the original Romney's Kendal Mint Cake (White), this popular alternative is made with added brown sugar.
