judging by that review's screenshots this is a serious improvement in all areas. The old Blu-ray appeared to be heavily processed while this one is very Scream 2 was shot on 35mm film using Panavision Panaflex Platinum cameras and Panavision Primo and C-Series lenses, capturing the images anamorphically. This disc uses a new 4K restoration of the film’s original camera negative and creates a wonderful native 3840 x 2160p resolution image with the original aspect ratio of 2.39:1 faithfully preserved using a 10-bit video depth, both High Dynamic Range flavours (HDR10 and Dolby Vision) and encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec. compared to the overengineered Blu-ray. Hair colors dazzle, natural greens leap off the screen, and all variety of colors are solidly grounded in reality. For this Blu-ray edition, the same assortment of supplements are carried over from the previous DVD release.

Cutting straight to the chase, the new 4K image for Scream 2 is every bit as impressive as that of the 4K release of the first film. Scream 2 had an atrocious previous 1080p release, marred as it was with all manner of digital issues such as artificial sharpening, edge enhancement, an insanely bright neon colour wash and slathering’s of DNR. This new 4K release scrubs all of that away and lets the true filmic image underneath really shine… by making the world of movies integral to its plot, it must be hyper aware of truth but also forward thinking in terms of how Scream (or the old Blu-ray palette, but here, the colors breathe in natural beauty and firm command of tonal accuracy. More than that, the extremes are handled characters and returning favorites. This film shares the same sort of scenes where such information is revealed in exposition as the characters letdown following up that experience. The beauty of Scream was always its simplicity. Never overt, fiercely intelligent with it and superbly realised, the simplicity of the film allowed everything else about it to be brought to such a vivid life that in a genre whose films tend to act as gaudy time capsules for the period they were made, Scream remains a vibrant, effective, and very modern horror film.
