The 70s/80s classic men's fragrance is a beacon for soap lovers. It has more notes than a Shostakovich symphony, but they all add up to violet freshness much like a finely-milled bar of French soap.

Ivoire de Balmain is a particularly nice choice for soapy as it does have that indescribable high-note soap quality in its chemistry, attributed to both aldehydes and clean musks. In the right dose, though, you'll feel clean, relaxed, and blissfully happy. It has 71% TFM with neem as its main ingredient and hence is considered to be good on the skin with all its medicinal properties. Absent from the article, but mentioned by two here: J. Lo Glow. Liquified 1980s Camay Soap. A lot like Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc, but gentler and more feminine. It's prosaic and yes, a celeb fragrance, but it has lasted because it's such a poem of cleanliness. But just when you think that the verse about cleanliness will start describing innocence and virginity, it has just a hint of sexiness. It's like "I just took a shower, just for you. Come closer. Closer." Pure Grace is the epitome of a bar of classic lavender soap, herbal, alkaline, yet with a bit of breezy smoothness. Graceful indeed.

I love the smells associated with soap - they're comforting and invigorating at the same time. I'm reminded of the sage advice from comedy actress Amy Sedaris in her book "I Like You" when she reminds us that you take a bath to relax and a shower to wake up. But what's great about that thought is that both involve soap, so when you're trying to figure out what's best for your mind and body, the smell of soap is a win. And at the same time, a particularly soapy fragrance just entered the market at the close of 2020 / beginning of 2021 that has changed our idea of soapiness, Replica's Bubble Bath. This soap has 60% TFM and belongs to grade 3. Various herbs are its ingredients and hence it has a good herbal fragrance. There are three glycerin versions of this product available with a sandalwood version also. Camay Red Bar Soap is has a light flowery scent. This soap ensures your skin is left smelling great; and you, refreshed! It is great for normal skin and can be used for the face, as well. The paper wrapping has a beautiful red rose on it and the soap itself can go inside your shower or on a soap holderA total dislike in the soapy category goes to Libre which is a clone of the older By of D&G. Way too loud and on the harsh, lavender side of soaps. It's immediate recoil for me because they remind of cheap drug store soap bar. They smell dated and screetchy - lavender never was a classy smell either. I never liked the harshness of Marseille or the perfumy loud notes in soap bar: it spoke to me of times when we had no other way of smelling clean, or "pretty".
