The live action movie Mulan, which they are going to make available on VOD, cost them 250+ million in production costs and marketing they already did so that will be a BIG dent in their profits by the end of the fiscal year, that's gotta hurt no doubt ! At startup, the UHD goes straight to the main menu screen with full-motion clips, the usual options along the bottom and music playing in the background.

And the seemingly incongruous pairing of Willis and Bedelia manages to generate real sparks, making us actually believe that this guy would risk everything to save his wife, instead of just another tired plot device. Eventually - after being passed on by the likes of everyone from Clint Eastwood to Sylvester Stallone to Richard Gere and Harrison Ford - it ended up in the lap of TV's Moonlighting star Bruce Willis, then known only for his small-screen comedy. In my opinion, Willis and Rickman, in spite of the huge number of strong roles in the future films, played their best roles in The Strong Nut. This is a dark film by nature, so the transfer doesn’t quite have the showiness of the best 4K presentations on this format, but it’s certainly reference quality for this particular film.An appreciably wide soundstage showers the screen with a variety of background and off-screen activity that's continuously sharp and detailed, even during the loudest, ear-piercing moments. DTS, with subtitles available in English for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Spanish, French, Castilian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, two different forms of Chinese, and Polish (note that there are also subtitles for the audio commentaries listed below in a few languages).

Twentieth Century Fox's popular action franchise centers on the increasingly catastrophic adventures of John McClane (Bruce Willis, Looper), a cynical policeman who finds . The original camera negative has been scanned in native 4K, graded for high dynamic range (in HDR10) and it’s presented on Ultra HD at the proper 2.But overlooking those arguably negligible issues, the 4K presentation comes with improved, brighter contrast, delivering sharp, crisp whites in every scene. S release (it arrived in the UK in 1989) and the movie still ranks among the best action films ever.

Thankfully the wait was worth it, as the film's debut Ultra HD Blu-ray release is (much like the recent Gladiator 4K) full-fate native 4K, almost certainly struck from a newly-minted 4K remaster given that the Blu-rays were sourced from mere 2K scans, and looking all the better for it. Just wrapping up his run in TV's Moonlighting, Willis was at his hungriest in Die Hard, and he almost single-handedly carries the entire movie on his well-oiled shoulders. That's a real shame if true, especially since Fox were well on the way to doing much of the groundwork on it's back catalogue for 4K. They bought Fox but apparently only for the Marvel/Star Wars/Avatar titles for the rest to be put away forever without getting any proper restoration treatment whatsoever ! And there are plenty of other characters and mini-stories to keep your interest when McClane is off-screen.

They would however still release new fare on disc after their theatrical debut from franchises like Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and Disney Animation. They apparently have thought about the idea of licensing their catalog to other companies about didn't make any steps going forward with that. The frustrating thing besides missing out on so many catalogue titles is the fact streaming is still some way short of the quality of physical media. Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Gleason, William Atherton, Hart Bochner, James Shigeta, Alan Rickman, Alexander Godunov, Bruno Doyon, De'voreaux White, Andreas Wisniewski, Clarence Gilyard Jr. Bruce Willis showed the world he was a bankable box-office star, Alan Rickman gave us one of the most dashing villains ever to grace the screen, and John McTiernan proved he was more than just a one-hit wonder after the success of Predator.
