Ensure that the wall is strong enough to take the weight of this type of rail. Care should be taken that you never bend down underneath the rail (e.g. to reach your feet) when sat in the bath as you could trap your head under the rail. Most people in the world do not live in a large city with an airport hub nearby where they can leave their doorstep and board a commercial flight with a stretcher onboard. For this reason, many airline stretcher transports start with a local transfer by road ambulance, helicopter, or charter plane, to the nearest airport where they can board the plane with the commercial airline stretcher. Even if the road trip is longer, it can make the most sense for the comfort of the patient.

Plastic covered foam cushions can be used to line the bath to make someone who is frail more comfortable, or to increase your safety if you have involuntary movements. Shaped cushion inserts are also available for some of the moulded plastic bath seats and lifts.Transporting a stretcher patient on a commercial flight is a large task, involving a lot of paperwork, manpower, and coordination. Ground ambulances and special vehicles to access the plane need to be arranged, and if there is a stopover at a transit airport, patient care needs to be organized between flights as well. If the child is a rider, not a patient, he/she could ride up front, but remember to turn off the airbag and use a car seat! If possible, the child should go with an alternate source.

It is usual to have a second remote control unit so that the shower can be controlled from a distance. This can be useful for a carer. In a survival setting, an injury will likely occur without a commercially made stretcher readily available. Since the Care Act 2014came into power in April 2015, anyone who appears to need care and support can request an assessment from their local council, irrespective of their income or savings. The Act also places a statutory duty on local authorities and the NHS to support individuals to take steps to prevent their ill health or care requirements from getting worse. These strategies for prevention can include the early provision of equipment and services to help prevent, delay or reduce the development of further need for care and support, which may include showering equipment, depending on the cost.
