Charles Symington, inspired by the great Cockburn’s Vintages of the past, made the outstanding 2011 debut Cockburn’s Vintage under Symington stewardship, which merited widespread international acclaim. The acquisition was followed by a historic tasting of Cockburn's ports, going back through the decades, aimed at understanding the essence of what made Cockburn's great.The concentrated wines of 1991 are still for keeping, though Ports from the lighter houses are just beginning to emerge. The creation of master blender Alex Thomas, The Sexton Single Malt Irish whiskey is made from 100% Irish malted barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills. The wine is made from grapes from the finest vineyards in Upper Douro and is aged for five years in oak casks before being bottled.

This 642 acre property is the essence of Cockburn’s vintage and other premium Ports, including Special Reserve.Cockburn’s Special Reserve port is created from a variety of high quality grapes, which are all hand picked by Cockburn’s master pickers. A Port with richness and intense concentration as well as a full body and dry finish with medium length. On the nose Cockburn’s Fine Ruby show’s fresh and appealing red fruit aromas such as red cherry and raspberry. With rich, full bodied flavours of raspberry, brambly fruit and spices, Cockburn’s fine ruby, retains the red colour and fruit flavours of a young wine. A blend of young wines from the high-altitude vineyards, the Fine White is aged in stainless steel for about 18 months.

Cockburn’s pioneered vineyard development in the Upper Douro Valley, particulary in the remote Douro Superior subregion, which is Cockburn’s heartland to this day. The unique blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão grapes gives Cockburn's Special Reserve Port its signature taste, making it a perfect addition to any dessert or cheese board. The complex character of the Fine Ruby Port offers you a bright, fruity flavour that pairs well with other foods and can also be enjoyed on its own. The earliest harvest on record in 2017 followed a growing season of drought and high temperatures, the resultant wines being very concentrated with good structure resulting in the first back-to-back declaration with 2016 for many years. Late Bottled Vintage 2016: With a deep-colored center and a garnet rim, this port is a sure crowd puller and is meant to be enjoyed with others.
