If you link up some wireless earbuds to the Shanling M0 Pro you can count on good compatibility plus a good amount of quality codecs to run. It runs all the major codecs like all the aptX variants, SBC, AAC plus LDAC. The Shanling M1s -Hi-Fi Portable Player a mid-sized MTouch portable player that combines the best features of our iconic players into one device. With an ESS ES9038Q2M DAC, in-house developed FPGA technology, and dedicated headphone amplifiers, the M1s delivers high-quality audio in a compact design. When it comes to sound, first of all, let me comment on this little player’s power. I tried a bunch of full-sized headphones and IEMs with this player, and it could drive all of them (both dynamic and planar) with good speed and dynamics, especially from the balanced output.

We have a strong battery life of 10.5 hours for the balanced output, as quoted by Shanling, but only about 8.5 hours as tested by me at 90% of the volume and some screen on time. The battery life is stronger in single ended, but there I kept it almost at max all the time, and it reaches around 12-13 hours of actual usage. The Bluetooth battery life is longer, if it is the transmitter, and it reaches 26 hours, as tested by Shanling, but around 22 hours if you have a good amount of SoT. On the other hand, if it is the Bluetooth receiver, the battery life is much lower, around 8 hours for the balanced output, and 10 hours for the single ended output. When all put together, M1s comes as our most featured and best sounding MTouch player, while staying true to its heritage of compact design Especially since I inevitably listen to a lot of sub-par recordings, this is a mixed-bag—the M1s can sound over-analytical without careful matching of file and headphone. Optimally paired, however—say a 24bit/192Hz take of “A Love Supreme” through the aforesaid HD-600—the M1s sounds very transparent and lifelike, with considerable energy and top-to-bottom coherence.

Shanling M1s follows the legacy of M1 and Q1 portable music players. It has an ultra-compact lightweight design with metallic chassis. The player has a firm design that provides a comfortable grip. Its compact design allows the user to carry the M1s anywhere they want. It’s an ideal choice for jogging, working out, cycling, or any other activity. In my personal usage, I found the M1S to be a bit better than M0 PRO for my personal usage, my fingers have more space to actually maneuver around the menus of M1s. It is not the fastest DAP, as it does not have a high refresh rate display, but it is enough for a music player. Generally, it is snappy and works properly. The display is exceptionally bright, so much so that most of my photos have been taken with the display at minimum power, it is more than bright enough for full sunlight in the brightest of days. The display is a bit small for having full song names presented, and they scroll laterally fast if the song name is long, but there is a screen saver mode that makes the wallpaper full screen. If your music does not come with wallpapers, it has a selection of tiny bits of art that appear on the display. The M0 Pro does step it up a notch by constructing the shell from a CNC-shaped solid piece of aluminum alloy and it does feel robust but it seems to remain light far as weight at only 36.8 grams.Now, remember the M1s has no internal storage so you must get an SD card in there unless you want to use the M1s for streaming exclusively which can easily be done through WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity. Battery Life Of course, the M1s performs slightly better, it has twice the power and a dual amplifier chip setup plus a beefier processor. But this is only in certain circumstances, for example, in case you want to push less efficient IEMs. Using a similar single SoC DAC chip configuration, the M1s uses a single ES9038Q2M but then compliments it with a pair of Ricore RT6863 amplifiers. These extra goodies also increase the price tag For a budget device, it seems to punch way above its price point far as a proper and interesting soundstage. Perhaps the premium DAC is the culprit here.

Shanling has recently released a line of similarly designed DAPS consisting of the M3 Ultra, the M6 Ultra plus a couple of other goodies expanding their already large Product lineup. The internal OS has a complete set of options like a 10-band equalizer plus a total of 7 digital filters so there’s plenty of sound-shaping flexibility within the built-in OS. The OS can be updated within the settings menu or through the use of Shanling’s Android software. So, you could connect the R2 II to a PC via USB and transmit its audio to a TWS or you could simply use the R2 II internal player to transmit to a TWS. What it can’t do is receive a BT transmission and then re-transmit to a TWS. Remember, you could use the R2 II to drive a TWS via Bluetooth which will allow you to obtain the best battery life in general. The versatility level allows for options. The M1S runs on an upgraded Ingenic X2000 Three-Core processor with upgraded MTouch 2.0 OS, providing a smooth UI and advanced functions such as WiFi connectivity which supports streaming via Apple Airplay and DLNA.You also have the “Eddict Player” app from Shanling to control the device from your phone. It also has WiFi, although not for streaming purposes (for now), but for connecting to your home network. But Shanling Audio is also leading the way with the Shanling Q1, which they presented with a retro-style design to set it apart from the classic portable players and bring something out of the ordinary to the market. There’s also a plethora of other digital formats that run on the M0 Pro but I’ll just let you look up the specs. They’re a total of around 20 so it’s probable that if you have music in a digital format, the M0 Pro will play them. Who knows you might be able to get m1s for not much more. I assume you're talking about Canadian dollars. I'm also assuming m1s is going to sound a bit better than the other small daps. All speculation at this point. I'm with you on M0 pro- cool but screen will be too small for me.
