The authors of this research conclude: Aluminium chloride and Aluminium chlorohydrate have a small molecular size and work as antiperspirants by entering sweat ducts and reacting with amino acids and peptides to form a gel. This gel then plugs the sweat duct and prevents sweating. These deodorants may work by shrinking sweat ducts and reducing bacteria that cause body odor. Acne An article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (Oct 16, 2002) concluded that there was no connection between use of antiperspirants and the risk of breast cancer.
