While on the surface it is a hilarious portrayal of a very frustrated Loki’s attempt to prove that he is not the monster everyone makes him out to be, it also contains many allusions to various stories throughout Norse Mythology. Overall my kids, husband and I all agreed that the story is a fairly original twist on traditional mythology with a good moral lesson thrown in. Furious that he must suffer indignities such as attending school and doing chores, Loki struggles to be good. Another fabulously funny read from Louie Stowell, this time with a very clever exploration of good/evil and empathy!

Loki might not have shown any moral improvement (yet) but Odin has given him another chance to prove himself worthy of A. I have always enjoyed Jim Carrey in the film Mask from 1994 where he puts on the mask and becomes a version of Loki. He has a whole month to redeem himself or else he will be sent to Hel wherein he will find an eternity of torture by the fangs of venomous snakes.

All about Loki and his quest to appease Odin for his troublesome tricks, he is sent to Earth to try to atone for his many mistakes.He is particularly enraged that he has to put up with Thor, who poses as his twin brother to keep an eye on him. I didn't know I wanted to read about Loki as a disgraced god forced into an Adrian-Mole-esque existence, but it turns out I do! Overall, I would highly recommend as a class text for Key Stage 2; my class cannot wait to find out how Loki is going to improve his virtue score!
