This very much depends on the wax that you’re using. Some waxes will only last for a short period of time such as 6-8 weeks, after this period of time they’ll stop protecting the paintwork and will need to be re-applied. Some waxes such as Soft99 Fusso Coat will last anywhere up to 12 months. That said, even using a wax such as Fusso, we would advise applying a wax a minimum of twice per year. The method of applying wax to your car will change slightly depending on the sort of wax you have. Here, we’ll cover how to apply the two different types of car wax, paste and liquid. As you might have guessed, paste wax is harder, and requires more effort to buff into the car’s panels, while liquid is soft, naturally. Wax Paste The excellent Bilt-Hamber Double Speed Wax takes our crown and top spot. Double Speed Wax is simply an exceptional all rounder which delivers stunning results at an incredibly affordable price. Value for money with this wax is utterly astounding and you’ll be left scratching your head as to how it’s possible. Bilt-Hamber Double Speed Wax produces deep rich glossy, highly water repellent and detergent resistant film due to it’s use of Carnauba. As with any wax, longevity and durablity is really important and impressively, DSW remains intact after repeated detergent washing. Natural waxes only come in paste form, and although they take extra effort to use, they produce the best results. The catch? They tend to be more expensive, and also only last for six to eight weeks.

Wax acts as a protectant to your paint. If you've ever been gifted some artisan waxed cheese you'll be familiar with the protective qualities of a wax casing; it'll protect the cheese from water, sun and other contaminants. Car wax works the same but on a much larger scale and the layer it forms is invisible. A good car was won't wear off easily and will protect your paint from heat, UV rays, water and other contaminants. Some of the more expensive waxes will also provide a nice deep shine. Spray wax is more of a top-up product and won't last anywhere near as long as the others but it's still useful if you're in a rush.Waxes can come in different forms, and that means they need to be applied in different ways. Beading and sheeting are excellent and have surprised me for the price of the wax. Good level of gloss but the shine isn't as deep as R222. Unsure of degradation at this stage, will update again in a few weeks.
