King Charles III’s Coronation is only the third Coronation of an English monarch to take place on a Saturday; the first was King Harold II on January 6th 1066, who was also the last Anglo-Saxon monarch. Harold was notably the first monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey in London; the Abbey has been preserved as the traditional venue for Coronations ever since. Change to route 112 - 25 November 2023

Many Stagecoach East Midlands drivers will be wearing red, white and blue, over the Bank Holiday weekend, in honour of the national event. Route E2 is diverted in both directions due to the closure of Windmill Road underneath the M4 elevated section due to roadworks. Towards Greenford buses will double run via A4 Great West Road with no stops missed. Towards Brentford buses will divert from Windmill Road via Great West Road and Boston Manor Road to line of route. These works will continue until mid-December 2023. LMS 46220 ‘Coronation’ was the first of the class to be built streamlined and was outshopped with a casing in June 1937 from the LMS Crewe works. The casing was removed, and replacement smoke deflectors were fitted in November 1946, with the locomotive being withdrawn from service in April 1963, and then later scrapped. Locomotive 46220 had 5 different liveries over the years and this locomotive also held the then speed record of 114mph with the Driver TJ Clarke and the Engineer Robert Riddles on the footplate. Hornby’s association with commemorating Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee events has spanned the years of her long reign.
