However, my car tyre pump is also noisy, and I never heard a Breeze in operation, so the "noise" it makes is probably normal for this type f compressor. We are dedicated to exploring all that touring has to offer, ensuring excellent service is provided to our membership. Just wondering if any "more mature" caravanners here use an electric pump or manage with a manual pump. Anyone waiting for the new Kampa Gale air pump, they are finally in the shops. Apparently the delay was due to being held up by the customs. I've just had the call from my dealer to go and collect mine. Yeah, I was really impressed at the way the pump performed, even after my tinkering with the fitting.

Obviously, only of use if you can get at the caravan battery easily, which I could. A true 5 minute job! The Dometic Gale Pump is a 12v air pump designed for use with the range of Kampa & Dometic tents and caravan awnings. I have a Kampa fiesta pro and find it doesn't take as long to blow it up manually than using a 12v pump and the kampa pump will not over inflate the tubes.There are probably better 12v pumps out there than i used but the i couldn't justify the cost.Ours isn't unreliable just slow. We keep it because we are told it will go to a higher pressure if it's windy so the poles will be more stable . . . I had a Breeze which was worse than useless, took a while to convince myself to invest in the Gale but glad I did!

The pump unit has a clear, digital display along with an adjustable pressure setting. It comes complete with handy adaptors for items like airbeds as well as tents and awnings. I think the fact that Kampa discontinued the Breeze and replaced it with a totally different one tells you they accepted the poor performance of the Breeze. I would very much doubt they would have replaced it with the Gale until they were satisfied the Gale was a much better piece of kit. First class service from camperlite. An excellent pump although a little noisy. It does exactly what it says it does and rather well. I have one of these and it sits in the bag with the cables, so no faffing about with cables etc. It does circa 4 inflations before it needs charging again and works a treat. Also useful on holiday for pumping up kids inflatables rather than busting your lungs on those! Had mine 2yrs now and works a treat The Dometic gale 12v electric pump is designed specifically for use with Kampa AIR awnings and tents and is a perfect match as it includes a screw on adaptor designed exclusively for Kampa tents and awnings, replacing the manual pump that comes as standard with all kampa models.Just tried the pump in the car (not inflating the awning) and the sound wasn't bad . . no shreeking, just sound like a normal car tyre pump Penrose Touring will only be dispatch awnings to the main island of the UK - this excludes delivery to places that are not on the main island and typically, though not exclusively require travelling over water / sea. Examples of excluded places are Used the gale pump today, it isn't quite but not overly loud. It was running for a 2 or 3 minutes and nothing seemed to be happening. The only indication that air was going in was the psi meter was going up. A few minutes latter and the awning was erect.

We have the Vango Varkala and I can inflate it in less time than it would take me to get an electric pump out of the boot and plug the thing in. For me they are in the same category as electric leg winders and screw in pegs. I used this along with a Sevylor Pump, connected straight to the caravan battery, very heavy duty adaptor and away it went. Maybe I will start with a manual pump and see how I get on.(Or even get the other half to do it..lol)

how many times a day are we inflating these awnings? I am a relatively fit 64 year old and I inflate ours just once at the start of a trip and have never felt the need to electrify the process. Then after 8 years of sterling service ( including 6 weeks seasonal stretches) the Kampa went Pop. Replaced it with a Vango only because we could get a Vango in a size that didn’t cross a window. No issues with the Vango but the Kampa Gale pump won’t fit it and can’t find any adaptors. A 12V electric pump designed specifically for use with Kampa AIR awnings and tents. Simply plug into a 12V power source using the extra long cable, set the required PSI and let the pump take care of the rest.
