However, I found the storyline unnecessarily chaotic, and there are so many speech bubbles that it's hard to keep up with everything that's happening. A broadcast collaboration with BBC and Rai Kids, the series is based on the popular picture books of the same name by Matty Long.

With more than 40 productions to its name, recent successes include the internationally popular 2D animated adventure/comedy Topo Gigio, Le Loup with Rai Kids and the first Italian YA animated series, Zerocalcare’s Tear Along the Dotted Line for Netflix.The illustrations are colourful and hold incredibly rich details which enhance the storytelling process. The book's biggest triumph is that even kids with no knowledge of its various pop culture references will still have loads of fun with the comic speech-bubble text and the clever. Matty Long has dug deep into his magical imagination to create a world where every page delights the senses and makes you wonder what craziness is going to appear on the next page. He loves all the little drawings and insists that we read all the words with the pictures every time.

With so much detail on every page, it's really one intended to be opened up directly in front of you anyway. Lots of illustration by this author/illustrator and small things for the child your are reading it to to look for and pick out. When the Mystical Crystals of Life are stolen, five brave heroes must go on an epic quest to get them back and save the Super Happy Magic Forest from the root of all evil. There is so much creativity and hilarious happenings going on in the foreground as well as the background.Five heroes -- a fairy, a unicorn, a faun, a gnome, and a talking mushroom -- have been summoned by wise Old Oak to retrieve the Crystals, but the epic quest won't be easy. It tells a story of mystical creatures that are chosen to be heroes, but get sent on a wild goose chase. I wouldn't recommend this for a group storytime, since there are so many tiny details in the illustrations that are key to enjoying the book, but some parents and kids will enjoy poring over the images and recognizing different references.
