Once the installer is finished open Logic with the Launchkey connected, you may be prompted to Auto Assign controls (which you can accept). If not, go to Logic Pro X > Preferences > Control Surfaces > Setup > New> Install and find the Launchkey Mini MK3 and select Add.And on the topic of the pads, the Launchkey Mini MK3 also features what’s arguably ‘the’ best integration with Ableton Live that you’ll find in any controller! The Launchkey Mini MK3 features 25 velocity-sensitive mini keys, making it easy for beginners to piece together expressive chords and melodies. The compact and affordable MIDI controller keyboard gets a makeover

Its arpeggiator lets you switch between different time intervals and modes: 1/4, 1/8T, Up, Down, etc. Those 16 RGB pads are some of the best we’ve seen on a 25-key midi keyboard. Aside from the fact they feel super supple and have a nice response to them, they’re also multifunctional and can be used in tandem with the ‘shift’ key to control virtually every parameter of your DAW – Ableton especially! One of the key differences between the Novation Launchkey Mini and the Akai MPK Mini is that the Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 has 16 physical pads while the MPK Mini has 8. Eight rotary encoders, Pitch and Modulation touch strips, and a sustain pedal input for versatile physical control input The first step is to disconnect your device and reconnect it to a different USB port as this can solve a number of problems.

Other new features on the Launchkey Mini MK3 include the addition of transport, Mute and Solo buttons, along with Volume, Pan, and Send controls. Each comes with software (Ableton Live Lite for the Launchkey and MPC Essentials for the MPK) and a selection of virtual instruments and samples. The Launchkey is also compatible with most major DAWs, but you’ll likely have to spend extra time setting it up. Modes Novation not only gave the Mini MK3 a built-in arpeggiator, but they also included a really useful fixed chord feature, which takes all the notes of a chord and compresses them into one single key. A beginner’s dream! If key feel isn’t important to you, they’re great options based on features alone. Potential DownsidesIt can also help you save space in your home studio and provide mouse-less control over parameters in your digital audio workstation (DAW). MPC-Style Pads and Assignable Knobs Neither does the Arturia boast any of the nifty scale features that you’ll find on the Novation. Beginners, take note! Choose either the Akai or the Novation and you’ll get 25 mini-sized velocity-sensitive keys (2 octaves). The Akai’s may be ever slightly wider, but only by a hair. When you need to take the music in your head and turn it into sonic reality via Ableton Live, there are few finer tools than the new Launchkey Mini MK3.
