The purpose of reading The Dream Giver would be to help the reader obtain direction in finding his dream and recognizing his God given talents, then applying them.

For those that happen to like simple allegorical stories, like Hindsfeet on High Places, well, maybe maybe the first part of this book will be enjoyable to you. I was going nuts and about to scream. It was short, so I waded through it. I simply can't stand this kind of reading, I feel like I'm being talked to like I'm a six year old. Perhaps that's the reading level we Americans have averaged out at, I don't know, but I find it incredibly annoying. Ordinary and his Father sat together quietly. The movie is supposed to be funny, but turns out to be rather sad. The main character follows his own dream, but when he gets there, he finds there is nothing to say. The book, though, is hopeful, despite the challenge of facing Giants and Bullies, as the Dream Giver is always present.

I am so encouraged, so emboldened, and so convicted by it that I have no choice but to make a choice. There is more to life than what most of us are living, and God placed us here with the precious gift of life for a reason! Or, consider Mother Teressa. I highly recommend the Dream Giver to anyone who is tired of living the status quo and is wanting to step out and try something new in God's power and strength. The Dream Giver was published in 2003, but only made it into my hands on Christmas morning 2009. There must be something in the air, so to speak, with the simultaneous Christmas release of the movie Up in the Air. I saw the movie first, before reading this short book. Together they have reminded me to make sure I am following my own Big Dream. Best Friend looked surprised, but he didn't laugh. "That's very…big," he said. "But if I were you, I wouldn't talk about this Dream of yours too much. Nobodies around here might take you for a fool."
