It’s not the cheapest, either, but you get what you pay for - and there are smaller options in the form of the Party Grill 200 and 400 if you don’t need the do-it-all capabilities of the 600. If you go the whole hog and opt for the 600, we think you’ll be suitably impressed. It’s really easy to set up, making it a viable tool for weekends away. It’s also incredibly versatile, just as good at barbecuing meat as cooking a fry-up or even cooking meat and two veg. the larger models were great for a crowd or a big family I never used our trailer tent cooker or kitchen as a result when they actually worked On a butane (camping gaz) set up they just take FOREVER to cook - * (the reason I was using the grill plate and paella pan) you can use propane and would be interested in hearing whether anyone had the same issues and switched and got a better outcome ? The burners just appeared too small and didn’t have enough grunt ! the safari chef, whilst it has a slightly larger cooking surface, has a reversible cooking plate - the ridged griddle on one side, and the flat frying area on the other - which means you either fry your bacon/sausage etc to be able to fry your egg at the same time, or you wait for the cooking plate to cool enough for you to turn it over, or you use another stove to fry your egg.Given the opportunity, we love to cook by flame when outdoors. Unfortunately, that's not always possible or practical. Be prepared for your camping trip to the great outdoors or festival with our guide on what to take. We initially treated it as a barbecue, cooking a selection of ribs, burgers and sausages on its large, circular grill. It’s very good at this - with its Piezo ignition providing easy match-free lighting and instant heat. The grill is huge, meaning there's plenty of room to move food around, allowing you to work out the varying temperature across the cooker. Seriously don’t bother with the cadac - I have had 3 over the last 15 years 2 larger ones, one is now in a skip, one returned and now the small safari chef 2 which I have just bought and used for a camping holiday and will be returning because it’s not fit for purpose. the safari chef is bulkier and heavier, plus you need to add on the hose, regulator and gas bottle and this all takes up lots of car space.

The children all decided they wanted pizza and dough balls, so pizza and dough balls it was to be!! You can actually buy a Pizza Stone for cooking on but we didn’t do too badly using the grill and the plancha. This gave the pizzas a very crispy base but the children ate the lot which in our book is a huge thumbs up because they will not eat anything if it’s not 100% right. Spaghetti Bolognese The lid has a handy built-in temperature display which means you could use it as an oven if you’re feeling adventurous, and we’ve even heard of people using a pizza stone on the Party Grill to create their own pizzas when camping. The larger models offered a great variety of cooking options I bought the paella pan and generally used this and the reversible grill plate and large pan support for everything* ok so the party grill has a smaller cooking surface but you can griddle bacon, sausage and mushrooms whilst frying an egg all at the same time. In total the outfit weighs 10.7 kg which is a little heavy for me but easy enough for hubby. Bear in mind the regulator, hose and gas bottle are sold separately though so that needs to accounted for when measuring the overall weight. We bought the R904 Blue Campingaz bottle which has a run time of approximately 6 hours 15 minutes. This adds an extra weight of 1.81 kg to the outfit. You could opt for the bigger R907 bottle has a run time of approximately 9 hours 30 minutes and adds 2.71 kg of weight. These two gas bottles have a safety valve that means they can be unscrewed from the Party Grill when not in use. Our verdict
