The simple answer is no, the battery powered mower is not going to be as powerful are a mains powered mower. The convenience and safety of not being tethered by the cable and the excellent charge and run-times that are now available, and yes, powerful enough to cut the lawn as good as a corded mower are seeing sales of cordless mowers increase substantially year on year. Does this make it more practical compared to the closest competition? Well, yes I think it does for people with medium to large lawns and limited space for storage. There is also a very handy and well positioned large raised central handle that makes carrying the 13.5 kg mower to the garage or shed very easy.

It’s a shame that this mower doesn’t come with a roller. I feel that this is made up for by the quality of the incredibly precise cut. In comparison to the old Gtech Falcon that took almost 5 hours to charge, this is a massive improvement. Not only does that beat the older Gtech model but now competes very favourably with the likes of Bosch and Flymo. The run time of 40 minutes is the same as the old Gtech model and is very respectable for a cordless mower of this size. Overall, the Gtech SLM50 is a well-designed product and an innovative solution for those with smaller yards. If you already own a Gtech trimmer, but not a lawn mower, getting this one is a no-brainer. Looking for a large-bodied self-propelled cordless mower that doesn’t cost the Earth This lime green mean machine screams ‘buy me’, and for more reasons than just the way it looks, which is frankly fantastic.Also the power system is completely electric so it produces zero emissions and works extremely quietly. Which is quieter between the Gtech Cordless Lawnmower and the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300? Well there’s not much between them with both guaranteeing sound power level below 90dB.
