The instruments on “Puritanical…” are phenomenal. Every element is at its peak, with exemplary sections in all the songs. There is an urgent energy on the album, and yet Dimmu seems to pull it off with ease, coming into their stride and not overdoing anything. Nothing feels overpowering, clearly Dimmu Borgir was already established at this stage, not having to try too hard, it all came naturally.
